As above, I have never tried to adjust my pH its 7.8ish out of the tap. I have just gone with fish that do well in that range.

ADF's are lovely but if kept with fish they will lose the competition for food as they are very slow. I know this from experience.

If you want some duckweed I always have some spare. 😆

I like a heavily planted tank but my plants have taken over triffid style. I think it may be time for a spot of pruning when I do maintenance this weekend. 🤔 😏

Hatchets are hard to keep, they WILL find a way to leap out of your tank. Good luck.

I tend to always buy plants online.

Flourescent tubes are a obsolete idea. As are incandescent and halogen lights. I have replaced every single lamp in my house for led ones including my fish tank light. LED technology is the future. I am an electrical engineer so I kind of know what I am saying here.

Chuck it in a bucket. Fill bucket with water. Swish the sand around in the bucket full of water with your hand, the water will become cloudy thats the dust and debris from your sand, the sand itself won't degrade. Pour water away. Repeat a LOT.

Weirdly I have never had a problem with fish eating my plants. Probably coz I overfeeding them hence the algea 😀
