Crypt melt is normal whenever the plants are disturbed, moved to a new tank, substrate changed, etc. Don't give up on them, just leave them be and you should see them begin to regrow back to normal soon.

The more I think about it, perhaps a baby accidentally got into your shrimp shipment, stuck in the net or something. I would imagine it would’ve been very hard to see such a brand new tiny baby.

That shrimp is way too big to be a baby. If it didn’t come in with your order of red cherry shrimp then perhaps it miraculously survived in some plants or moss shipment for your pond.

I read that shrimp didn’t need a heater and that the cooler temps they’re kept in, the longer they will live. I keep them at the low end of the recommended temps on many of the shrimp seller’s websites.
