Post your first tank vs. newest!

I didn't get into fishkeeping as a kid, I never saw a fish in an aquarium until I was 21, so I'm starting to feel a bit like a beginner around here.

I come from a family of fishkeepers. My great grandfather bred goldfish, my grandfather bred bettas, my mother had a tank of hatchetfish - I have always had at least one tank of fish for 56 years now. I don't have any 'new' tanks, but I did buy a pile of second hand 10 gallons a few months ago, and pulled 4 25 gallons out of storage last week. A lot of my tanks are over 20 years in use, and still solid.
Brand new tanks never look right. They're like brand new gardens.

Ooh I can contribute here
Two tanks, both of which I still own and are still running, comparison between 2014 and now.

So a 120x50x60, then a tanganyika now "amazonia"

60x30x30, then a badly done community tank, now a quarantine

btw yes, parts of the anubias are from these plants for sure...along with like 9 other plants I have now.
What is the large grass mossy type plant in the second picture? Java moss?

My first tank is still my only tank.
This is it's progression over the past 20 months

The one in the middle, the big mess is Najas guadalupensis. I recommend it way more than hornwort that i used to have, that one is like a little girl.
The one sticking behind it with the long stems is a Cryptocoryne aponogetifolia

I don't have pictures of my first tank. That was about 55 years ago, lol.
Similar situation though closer to 50 years for me. I don't dare post my tanks now because they are both a mess. My display tank is getting new fine gravel/sand (2mm gravel) soon, if successful I will post a picture.

I wish I could still get pictures on my first tank, that feels like ages ago when I was still in high school. But I could still remember some of the fishes I had: blood parrots, bgk, silver arrowana, cat fish of some sort, leopard crabs and some others I couldn't remember. Man do I miss those times. Oh and I had a plastic piece of driftwood and plastic plants

I’ve been keeping fish for a loooooong time so there is no picture of my first tank anywhere as far as I know. But I have some old pics from 2005-2007 of my aquariums at that time (all since gone and sold). Now I have 3 completely different tanks. If you want to see my old ones from 15 yrs ago or so, you can check them out here: http://mmadison.com/photogallery/Aquariums/Aquarium_Photos.htm

Ah geez. My first ever tank was a 1.5 gallon I bought at a garage sale for $1. It uh… worked. But at the time I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

But I then upgraded to a 10 gallon which was my first proper tank. It was still really sad.

I’m actually still using it as a guppy fry tank, I was gonna use it for an axolotl legality be danged, but I couldn’t keep the water cold enough during the trial summer, all my tanks reaching 86° With kids and lights off. So. Yeah. My hopes for an axolotl were scrapped. This is it right now:

I’ve gotten a few more tanks since my first little gallon. So I have 6.5 technically 7 tanks but the 7th is a 3 gallon used for newborn fry who can’t survive their older siblings yet.

And this is my latest, a 55g ❤️❤️
