I have found that my fish (and shrimp) prefer steamed over blanched...they like 'em tender ;) ...but not so tender that they fall off of the skewer

Steamed...I'll steam veggies for myself, and save some for the fish...unseasoned, of course Mine won't go for raw carrots...try steaming some of yours, and see if your BNs go for them

Oh yes, this was carrot night, but I feed my fish a wide variety of steamed veggies...broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, squash are some of their other favorites

Not sure if it was THE cause of the leak, but removing those braces was not a good idea, I'm afraid...

That is correct. BB (beneficial bacteria) reside on surfaces within the tank (filter media, substrate, deco), not in the water column itself. I change 50% of the water in my tanks, weekly.

What was the ammonia reading 24H after the WC?

Old thread, OP hasn't replied in over a year Beneficial bacteria do not live in the water column, they colonize on surfaces. What is "mineroll"?

That is a well-disproven fallacy ;) If you've ever filleted game fish, you'd see for yourself... For the OP, @emeraldking is our resident live-bearer expert...if he says the fish looks fine, I wouldn't fret over it anymore

Glad to hear that the power is back on, and that your fish seem to be recovering as well as can be expected We FINALLY have a nice weekend to look forward to...but the yard is still saturated, so the dogs are stuck inside, again...for the 10th day, if I'm not mistaken...I had almost forgotten...
