    Dog/cat food for fish???

My dog Marley LOVES fish food...she follows me between tanks every time I feed, hoping I'll drop some...which has happened...it doesn't sit on the floor for long

New 10 Gallon scape - recommendations!

Hatchetfish are jumpers...not only is a lid required, but one with no openings, as well They can (and will) jump through the smallest openings in a tank lid...speaking from experience

    Possible Restart...

You are getting great advice from @Byron I have to comment, though, that this is the first instance I've seen of well water being very soft...typically, well water is hard, or very hard, IME My well produces what is known as "liquid rock"....600+ PPM, using a TDS meter...whereas my tap...

    Dog/cat food for fish???

When I was a kid, my grandpa had a secret, favorite fishing hole for catfish, where he would bring me to catch fish. The first time he brought me there, he had me scoop some dog food into a coffee can before we left his house...I had no idea what for, maybe there were stray dogs near the...

    Before and after picture

It'll never work, those fish aren't compatible....
  14. Slaphppy7

    Carrots are delicious...

I have found that my fish (and shrimp) prefer steamed over blanched...they like 'em tender ;) ...but not so tender that they fall off of the skewer
  15. Slaphppy7

    Carrots are delicious...

Steamed...I'll steam veggies for myself, and save some for the fish...unseasoned, of course Mine won't go for raw carrots...try steaming some of yours, and see if your BNs go for them
  16. Slaphppy7

    Carrots are delicious...

Oh yes, this was carrot night, but I feed my fish a wide variety of steamed veggies...broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, squash are some of their other favorites
  17. Slaphppy7

    Carrots are delicious...

I'm all about the tetras, but my all-time faves are the rummies... ;)

    Chillers

I don't keep my tanks cold enough...I'll stick with my non-drilled beer cooler
  20. Slaphppy7

    Carrots are delicious...

Those are the WCMMs... Bigger variety of community fish in the 40B, though "Lao" the BNP seems to have had his fill of carrots when the vid was taken [VIDEO]
  21. Slaphppy7

    Carrots are delicious...

No CPDs in any of my tanks...are you talking about the one with all of the shrimps? And yes, community tanks are my preference ;)

How to know the crayfish is dead

The cray could have already been dead, and the other was scavenging on it Remove it from the tank, and if it smells bad, it's deceased
  26. Slaphppy7

    125 gal failure

Not sure if it was THE cause of the leak, but removing those braces was not a good idea, I'm afraid...
  27. Slaphppy7

    Barbs poorly 😪

That is correct. BB (beneficial bacteria) reside on surfaces within the tank (filter media, substrate, deco), not in the water column itself. I change 50% of the water in my tanks, weekly.
  28. Slaphppy7

    Neons are dying off

What was the ammonia reading 24H after the WC?
  29. Slaphppy7

    Barbs poorly 😪

Old thread, OP hasn't replied in over a year Beneficial bacteria do not live in the water column, they colonize on surfaces. What is "mineroll"?
  30. Slaphppy7

    Mystery guppy

    @emeraldking, have a look
  31. Slaphppy7

    Neons are dying off

Are you doing WC's? ANY amount of ammonia = not good Was the tank cycled previously? EDIT: Just saw on your other thread, you added fish while ammonia was present (??)
  32. Slaphppy7

    I feel like giving up....

Beneficial bacteria grows faster at warmer temps, raise the tank temp to 82F Warmer water holds less oxygen, so adding a bubbler will increase surface agitation, aiding gas exchange at the surface
  33. Slaphppy7

    Fat guppy?

That is a well-disproven fallacy ;) If you've ever filleted game fish, you'd see for yourself... For the OP, @emeraldking is our resident live-bearer expert...if he says the fish looks fine, I wouldn't fret over it anymore

Using a Lid with a Light

I am not sure about that, I've never owned a rimless tank
  37. Slaphppy7

    Advice on ich treatment

Agree with heat only, as well Just make sure there is plenty of water surface agitation, to promote gas exchange...warmer water holds less dissolved O2

Using a Lid with a Light

Glass lid...they sit flat within the top trim of the tank https://www.amazon.com/glass-aquarium-lid/s?k=glass+aquarium+lid&tag=ff0d01-20

    How’s the weather?

Glad to hear that the power is back on, and that your fish seem to be recovering as well as can be expected We FINALLY have a nice weekend to look forward to...but the yard is still saturated, so the dogs are stuck inside, again...for the 10th day, if I'm not mistaken...I had almost forgotten...
