I’m using old carpet to lay under the pond as well as pool filter sand. As for wet weather, the yard is at a slope, and the pond is at the top of the slope, so my hope (rhymes)is that nothing besides the occasional pieces of dirt will fall into the pond

I’ve never had a male betta, but perhaps check the amount of fiber recommended for a betta and the food you give him? I assume it’s betta fish food, though. If he is a small fish in a planted/decorated tank, then it is likely you won’t see his poop.

Stop feeding for a couple days and see what happens. Fish can survive weeks on end (like humans) without food. Leave him for a couple of days. A picture would help.

They look like snail poos to me, but could be some kind of larvae. Southern California ponds have larvae that look like those on the bottom. They are always there and don’t do anything, but they are not eggs, so maybe you put in a different tank to see what they do. My bet is nothing.

I do weekly wc on all 5 tanks. I normally have them split between Sunday and Saturday. I do mostly 50-60% water changes, as I learned that normal tap water is cleansed every year. They add 3x the normal chlorine to water, and when I was previously doing fin-level water changes and 80% changes...

@Colin_T I would suggest looking into toxic materials for plecos, however I am not sure about the picture and what you think is wrong. For the future, buy an API Master Test Kit. It’s much more accurate.

I’ve found Skinfix Acne+ 2%BHA Cleanser works. Salycilic Acid is always good, but this reduces obvious acne spots and also clears it.
