    Swordtail pregnant

I'm sorry to hear you lost your fish. This isn't a criticism but I know you've lost a few fish recently, it might be worth just standing back and taking stock of things, not adding anything for a while just in case there's something going on.

    Is my betta overweight?

Well it's a personal kinda business, they must not like an audience lol

    Is my betta overweight?

I've never seen my betta poo and I've had him for nearly a year! Beautiful colours though 😊

    Buyer beware beware

That's strange I get stuff from Yodel all the time and never have an issue with them. Even the dreaded Evri don't seem to have issues round here. Hopefully it's just a one off, hope you get your parcel soon!

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

I'm definitely seeing the frogs more mainly because I think they got a bit lost in the larger tank. They think it's feeding time every time they see me! I'm pretty sure my betta thinks the same or that I'm invading his territory :D I always found my cories quite shy with the exception of my...

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Thanks @AdoraBelle Dearheart, I feel bad that you feel responsible in any way whatsoever! My go to was also large water changes as it made sense given the symptoms. I'm just glad I understand what the issue was now. Funnily enough I only moved over to RO originally because my local utility...

Thank you to everyone on TFF

Definitely, just did changes on both my small tanks in less than 30 minutes before getting ready for work, so that's a definite plus! Still gutted about my cories but at least I can hopefully avoid anything similar in future.

Thank you to everyone on TFF

I'd love a BIG tank but I live in a flat so it just wouldn't be possible! Little tanks can be fun, albeit not as much room to mix things up but still a variety of scapes possible.

Thank you to everyone on TFF

Hi all I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me during my recent disaster in my tank which caused me to lose all my fish. Although the outcome wasn't what I'd hoped for, the advice I received here helped me to understand why it happened so that I can learn moving forwards...

🐡 FOTM VOTE NOW - August Fish of the Month contest (Bettas)

This is Zazu, my alien betta. He is not the best model and I am not the best photographer, but he is a gorgeous combination of iridescent blue, purple and red. I've had him about 10 months now, he lives very happily by himself in his 6gal fiefdom. I tried to introduce a couple of shrimp once but...

    Plants fertilizer

Speaking from very recent experience, yes! I just killed off my whole tank with the aforementioned dodgy tabs. But liquid ones should be fine if dosed appropriately. If yore having Spikes keep up with water changes and don't dose any ferts for a bit.

    5.0 nitrates

It could be from your tap water, try testing some to see.

    Crack In New Aquarium

Can you return it for a replacement? Not sure if that's feasible but even if not it could be worth sending pics to the retailer to see if they will issue a partial refund. Paludarium could be cool though :)

    30g long for sale

Thanks all. I definitely don't want to give the hobby up altogether that's for sure. I may have been hasty potentially (it's one of my many faults!), I'll see if it sells, if not I'll see if family can store the tank for me. My brother in law was talking about setting up a tank a few years back...

    30g long for sale

Thank you both, I do appreciate it! I've left the frogs in the QT tank and as there are just the three I was thinking of leaving them in there. I don't have anywhere to store it long-term so maybe if it doesn't sell I can ask family to store it for me. I am probably a bit too soft as I know...

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Yes I like watching his videos, he's sponsored by API these days I believe but did use them beforehand. Could always monitor your water parameters just to see what happens?

    30g long for sale

Hi all Am downsizing following a recent disaster in my tank. This was in use up until a couple of days ago so in full working order. Full spec including measurements attached in pics but it is a 30g/112 litres Diversa, has only been used for a year. No issues or glass defects. Will also come...

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

It's the only thing I can think of as nothing else had changed. Still dealing with a very small ammonia spike in my betta tank but nothing like what happened to my main tank. Mine were unbranded so not sure if that had a part to play, from what others have said API are highly rated.
  21. L

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Potentially a silly question but adding in this way doesn't upset the fish at all?

    Ammonia spike after fertilising

Ah sorry I understand now. Unfortunately I lost all the fish after I did a larger water change yesterday to try and deal with the ammonia. I won't duplicate that thread here, but only have my ADF's left now. I tore the tank down this afternoon to replace the substrate, will continue testing...

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

I think I will give that a go, and just be much more stringent about my testing. I think I had finally got to a place where I felt confident enough not to need to test all the time as I thought I knew my tank quite well. I know some people don't test but I think for me, especially after this, it...

    Ammonia spike after fertilising

Hi @TwoTankAmin I don't have anywhere near your level of knowledge but don't agree with fish in cycles either. I'm not sure if I've misunderstood some of what you've written but just to confirm this tank was set up for over a year. I'll link to my second thread that has spawned from this one...

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Thanks. I only moved over to RO originally because I didn't realise I have very hard water when I first got my cories. I also have a betta so will keep using the RO water for his sake as well. I've spent the morning removing the substrate and cleaning the tank out. I think for now I'll leave...

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Just to update three out of the four cories have died since my last post. The final one looks extremely lethargic and I am considering euthanasia now to stop its suffering.
  27. L

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Balance is fine, colour is normal, just pretty lethargic. I imagine they're probably still pretty stressed. They're also now in a small group (only 4) but not going to worry about that for now, need to get them through this first. I'm just glad that, as bad as this has been, my betta tank seems...

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Thats what I was thinking, it's just cheap play sand and I could take advantage of them being in the QT tank to do so, it'll be a pain but I can take my time to do it if need be.
  29. L

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

QT test results just for comparison. The cories look to be in very bad shape this morning unfortunately. Shallow rapid breathing, barely moving. Not sure if I need to make a call about euthanasia. Can't even find the frogs but I know they're in there!

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Thanks, my back has woken me up today and is quite sore so ideally I don't want to be messing with the tanks or lifting anything heavy if I can help it. I left the main tank running, all my stem plants are still in a d a few floating ones, I took some out to go in the QT but there's plenty to go...

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Thank you, I'm afraid I'm not sure how the tabs were made as they were unbranded. Lesson learned, only stick to reputable brands, or perhaps just liquid ferts as I've never had issues with liquid ferts.
  35. L

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

So I did that yesterday when I first saw the issue, drained the entire tank, vacuumed the sand and went through removing any bits of root tab I could still find. But the fish immediately acted off when I put them back in which is when I grabbed the QT tank. I left the main tank running about...
  36. L

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

It's the only thing I can think of as the tank was fine and running for a long time with no issues.
  37. L

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Thanks, they are in a QT tank with no substrate atm, just an established filter and lots of floating plants. Will need to figure out what to do with the main tank where the ammonia issue started tomorrow morning. Possibly tear it down and put fresh sand in? Too extreme?
  38. L

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Thanks, hopefully can save the ones I have left.

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

Gah I'm really angry at myself for causing this. Need to get some sleep and come back to things tomorrow with a fresh brain.

HELP water change killed all my fish!!

It does increase using Equilibrium, I was testing gH and kH before water changes but have got a bit lax recently as I know how much it should take to get to my desired hardness, so it may not have been on point.
