My most expensive fish $ 1300.

I think the most i spent on a single fish was around $55 for my wc discus of course with 8 of them it adds up :( Wait - i think one of my whiptails cost $65 but i'd have to double check the receipt. I draw the line - this adds up a fast. The BEST purchased i made was my little me's they were...

Pity there isn't a way to delete all messages by a spammer with a single click. Of course then all of my messages would probably end up in the trash :( More serious where one scammer goes others follow so i would not be shocked if you end up with a gazillion messages to delete next month.

What you should know about discus

I use the flakes for tetra - specifically the one with greens mixed in - the only two flakes i buy these days are omega-one and fluval but i discovered that grinding the pellets to a very fine level work better for the frys since it sinks faster and they like to collect at a leaf in the morning...

Nannacara Anomala (Golden Eyed Dwarf Cichlid)

Those look like healthy specimen - i had one fantastic male who lived 4 years that was bred by a hobbist but since then i've never been able to get a decent set - most are cz bred I think and not as durable. I did try keeping multiple females but i found it ill advised in practice as the females...

What you should know about discus

These are mine i hope they don't look deformed - i've only had them for a year so not sure if i'm doing things right yet - btw most of my dwarf cichild get fluval bug bite which is over priced black soldier larvae (i think) ;) I buy the bulk container and use a coffee grinder to chop it down to...

What you should know about discus

How did you make your own food? I don't mine feeding them freeze dried black worm but i'd rather they ate something with more greens. Frozen myst shrimp should be good for them but they don't like them and while i'm raising worms for them i don't want to feed them very many cause they are kind...

What you should know about discus

I don't disagree; and i agree that beef is likely bad for discus but the generic comment cows aren't found in water bothers me. My discus are wc and they are very picky eaters - so far the only thing i've foud they eat reliably is freeze dried black worm. I'm raising some live white worms to see...

I live in an hoa they used to keep the gate open but then halloween came and they closed it. Not one kid made it over the fence. Now i don't know if i should feel sad or glad.

    Angelfish Tank mates

So that is a good point that if the space is tight they might react differently - in a 120 they didn't use that much space but width here will make a big difference (height isn't useful). I concede that at 12 inches wide this tank might be pushing it and if that angel gets as large as my male it...

    Angelfish Tank mates

So the smallest tank i've had them in was a 120; i did have 6 white fin rosy - a similar but larger less active fish in a 29. This is my group which mostly remain just above or below the plants (I think there are 25 to 30 of them in all): This is the full tank: They are in the small area...

conductivity. Nearly all tds pens are really just ec pens - so this is sort of like a tds of 10 1/2. Very soft water.

    Angelfish Tank mates

I've heard many people say they are fin nippers but i've had as few as 2 with angles and never had an issue; if anything they always seemed a bit weary of the larger fish. I'm not sure if i've always been lucky or if the actual fin nippers were a serpae like species that was different. I just...

    Angelfish Tank mates

serpae tetra work well; they will remain in the lower area of the tank between the cory and the angel as long as you have decent plant cover. A school of 10 maybe. cardinals are among my favorite but large adult males can eat them though it depends on the fish; usually the female stay a bit...

🐡 FOTM CassCats - October 2024 Fish of the Month Winner(Tetras)

They are ok but there are better schoolers; i'm totally enchanted by Trigonopoma pauciperforatum and Brevibora dorsiocellata both which work very well in darker water - then there are Paracheirodon simulans which have their own magic. Sigh there are so many wonderful tetra and rasboras i'd need...

What you should know about discus

This argument is of course in simple terms stupid. Discus don't eat cows simply because cows do not exist in water. Now that doesn't mean beef heart is bad for discus (or good) but the argument that they are not in the natural habitat is a very poor one. I will grant that common sense suggest...

    Krobia Sp.Oyapok

Ok after i said nice fish i did a bit of searching and 2020 found a post by tangleupcichild describing it as a colour morph of a dolphin cichild (which was my first guess); having said that it might actually be a different species as i don't think anyone has done a dna squence of it (yet).

    Krobia Sp.Oyapok

Is this verified as a unique species or is it one of the other krobia that migrated ? I.e, it is named after the catch location but i'm not sure - i really couldn't find much to distinguish it from dolphin cicihld. Btw i have a pile of Krobia xinguensis; they breed like little bunny rabbits...
