Nope, twice is too many times… not buying those type heaters again…

That's a solid deal for a heater controller included. I'm running controllers on all my breeding tanks, it's definitely a necessary evil

Yes. I don't have them exactly horizontal but damn near. Also I only have moderate water flow in 2 of these pics coming from the top of the tanks. It's generates just enough flow to make these heaters effective

Who makes tanks that dont break the bank

Looking at the possibility of having some tanks made. I want to make 48x24x16 80g and 48x24x12 60g. I need 2 80g and 4 60g. I'm thinking plexiglass because they're just for the fish room/breeders, I don't care how they look and I'm thinking it's cheaper/easier to drill. Anyone know any solid...

Automatic water questions for those of you with fish rooms

I use heaters in my barrels to get the right temp. During summer I need a chiller. My water outside can get as hot as 95⁰ in June/July/August. I just need advice on pump brands that are reliable and possibly a system setup that is tried and true. This will be my 1st go round with auto...

Automatic water questions for those of you with fish rooms

I know a few of you here have full blown fish rooms. Do you have auto water systems in place to do your water changing for you? If so how do you have them set up? The system I've been looking at is one hole drilled at a top corner of the tank for the water to drain with a 1-4 gallon per...

    Ants and removal

Hello yall. So like the title says I've got some sporadic ants that have decided to make there appearance just like every other summer. There's not a ton of them but they're always present and annoying. I have left them year after year but I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem and...

Trying a “no cycle” start up on this next tank…

I do not in fact find it odd that a company in business to make a profit would only list what they are legally required to and keep to themselves their secrets. That's basic business 101, again a very simple concept to grasp. The link I provided with the SDS was to prove that you or anyone...

Trying a “no cycle” start up on this next tank…

https://customerportal.seachem.com/SDSResources/13/13.html according to the SDS mandated by OSHA (you know the government..) there is nothing harmful and the ingredients are a "trade secret", "The blends of strains in all of our bacterial supplements are proprietary" (not a hard concept to...

Trying a “no cycle” start up on this next tank…

Ive used this method every time I've started a new tank. I did this with your fish too. Never had a single issue. No ammonia spikes, no nitrate spikes no nitrite. I know you don't like stability and I'm not anywhere near as versed or knowledgeable as you on the science of water chemistry or...

    Wavemaker

Wave makers are actually a great tool for larger aquariums and used just as much for fresh water as marine. Surface agitation is one factor to be considered but just as important is filtration. Wave makers can help to keep debris suspended in the water column for longer periods of time giving...

How to store RO water for the aquarium

I use 5 55g food grade drums and store them outside where they get sun for about 6hrs a day. I normally have 3 of the drums filled with a mix of RO/Tap and the other 2 with straight RO. Haven't had a single problem with my water quality and my fish are breeding with it. I'm gonna get a 20mm...

Nitrates won't go down no matter what I do.

Do a 90% water change and check. That for sure will lower them if your tap is at 0.

    Gravel or sand

Sand is a love/hate relationship. Love the way it looks, love that it isn't sharp so it won't harm your bottom dwellers etc. I don't love it flying all over my tank or ending up in my filters. For tanks with a lot of flow/current sand can be a problem. Cleaning sand with your python can also...

    Best digital heater and thermometer

Do yourself a favor and get a heater controller. Your heater gets stuck on the controller will shut it off and you won't come home to fried fish. My rule of thumb is to replace heaters annually. Last couple years I haven't been following that because I'm literally in my tanks daily and I use...

    Clown loaches

I keep mine in: 80⁰ 7.5ph 0/0/20 I don't measure GH or KH I just go by PH. This may not be a popular opinion but generally speaking if you have solid KH it prevents your ph from changing as quickly. My PH doesn't fluctuate. I've always been successful in keeping them in essentially neutral...

When a Blessing Becomes A Curse

Problem with that is when my father had what resembled a minor stroke he couldn't get any priority to get him in in less than 3 months. He's 73 and had a serious episode which I explained to his Drs office. It's very frustrating especially when he wanted to go there because he's comfortable...

When a Blessing Becomes A Curse
