The most I've spend on fish was buying high grade koi. But I also have to mention that I've earned that money back by selling other high grade koi which were born at my former place. When they grew up, I've selected the best ones and sold them for serious prices.

Completely true. That's why I repeatedly write that one should not look at the tropical country itself but at the location within that country where those fish occur.

That's not that weird. For a lot of stores labels them as being tropical fish. This goes for more fish species by the way which are actually subtropical or even coldwater fish. And what's also sad is that there are lots of commercial aquarium books that label such fish incorrectly as being tropical.

I love the sight when they start to court. The males are flaring their fins which gives the fish an extra dimension.

I ship till somewhere in November. After that people need to wait till mid spring.

I would also breed snails in a separate tank if I was you. Get a portion out of there to feed the puffer when needed. This way you can control the amount of snails much better then if the puffer and snails are in together.

I'm totally not offended when people hunt. But it should be because of the right reasons. My granddad (from my mom's side) was a hunter as well. But many people in Indonesia during that time period were hunters. And it was needed to feed themselves. He and many others were land owners...

It's an awesome sight to watch those fry together. But yes. what Gary has already mentioned, it can be a burden to rehome them. Same goes for convicts and green terrors.

True. Also overhere we can not buy that older quality anymore. Nowadays, it's plastic or silicon. Even the silicon can harden after a while.

There are a lot of fish that will become monster size but are sold as cute little fish at the store. And not all stores will give the information about their max size.

How many of you measure the temperature of the water when performing water changes? I do it by feel. I will only measure when the temperature becomes an extreme.
