Got home all seemed great! all were swimming about happily. no other fish were chasing the new ones or anything. They were all fine until i went to bed (after 4...

What can you tell me about

Is that a leporinus in the picture? Mine looked VERY different! Slim and long, not high, with yellow and black stripes. As you probably read, we had to take ours back as it chased the new fish (and ate them) and when our upside down catfish came out for food, he chased and bit him too. They...

    Betta tanks pt.2

is that a siamese fighting fish? At the pet store (which we no longer go to), the owner kept about 100 male fighting fish in his shop. They were all in pint glasses and he said that some of them had been sitting there for months. I thought that it was cruel, but he said that it was all the...

    Dead angel

Thanks this seems logical enough. The fish are only ever chased by the others as soon as they have been added.Usually if they survive the first night, then they are ok. However not this time!

    Dead angel

we have 2 mollies, 2 neons, 2 black widows, 3 golden barbs, 1 angel (now :( ), 3 guppies and 1 leoporinus (about 3inches). Oh and 1 upside-down catfish. But if he was close to death anyway then it is not so much of a problem

    Death death death

I know they usually eat them but they never seem to be chasing them at all during the day. however we have had the same 2 neons since the beginning almost and they are fine. it is only the new ones that get eaten. the leporinus was chasing all of the new fish yesterday, but has stopped now.

    Death death death

We have bought a few new fish again. An angel to go with the other one, a couple of mollies and more tetras. this was yesterday. However as every time before, the tetras are gone by the next morning. Leporinus chases them a tiny bit during the day. Does he eat them during the night or do they...

    Death death death

right. now today we went to see a so-called expert on this subject. he tested our water and there was no nitrite or ammonia in the tank. the pH was 7.6 (a little high he said but nothing to worry about). Does anyone else have advice about the leporinus as i take seriously what the other person...

    Death death death

I add a dose of something called easybalance to the tank every week. It says that it maintains the ecological balance of the tank and water changes only need t be done every six months. What about nitrate levels and nitrite, hard water etc. We have no live plants, just plastic ones, is it...

    Death death death

Hi, I bought a new 3-foot tank about 6 weeks ago. We set it up, cleaned the gravel, used an appropriate filter and heater and kept it at 77degrees F for one week. We then went and bought 1 upside down catfish, 3 golden barbs, 3 black widows, 3 cardinal tetras and 3 dalmation mollys. After a...
