After a long struggle - of which we weren't sure he was going to perk up from - Oliver is now back to being the cute little social baby he was in the first place.   Here are some updated photographs of him from today.      

He's quite amusing, hunting around the tank. I could barely see it though - see through coloured. And there's ALOT of plant coverage. So I'm sure they'll be perfectly safe (:

Well, after losing nearly all my pregnant mollies - I woke up this morning to see one missing. Immediate thought? Oh great - another dead fish.   However, I couldn't find any body. Whilst searching, this small thing floated across infront of me.   Fry! :D Looks like she gave birth in the TARDIS...

29th April update:   Oliver is perfectly fine now! He's swimming about, chasing platys, and coming over to say hello to me!   Thank you all for your help!

Since this post I lost four more fish. Another preg molly, a molly, two siamese fighter females. All due to a dodgy filter.   Filter has now been replaced

You can buy a filter bag to put over the filter - this will prevent them from being sucked in. That's what I've done, and it works beautifully.

Lazy Betta, yeah that explains Oliver very well. We've moved three platys out of the tank - and left him with the three docile ones. He really does nothing except sit in one spot, swim around occasionally, then sit in the spot.   I'm thinking plain lazy is a good description. Will keep this...

Yep - decided to move the mean male, and a couple of females to a separate tank. He's not roaming the tank much, but when I come in and sit opposite, he'll come over to me whilst I'm there. Same problem here. Does it have LOTS of plants? I just put 9 plants in with mine and suddenly he was alive again.

It might have worked for that long, but I strongly advise you to reconsider having guppies and a Berta in the same tank. Pet shops will say its fine (usually just to sell the fish) but actually its a prime cause of nipped fins

I dont think its something we can stop  - glass reflects, even if we did put something up against it. ): We'll be needing some thinking caps! Cade suggested black paper behind the glass.

Yeah, Bettas and Guppies are a big no no in the same tank - despite what shops say.
