    Have you seen these guppies?

Focus, I love these colors. Sadly, I live in the US. Are they rare? Expensive? Are they show guppies? I'd love to learn more. Thanks, Wendy :D

Miracle!! 24 hours later the nitrite is less than .25. :D :D I did add about 1/2 tablespoon of aquarium salt. Bigfish, I'll watch my catfish and won't add more salt. They seem fine. Thanks for the info. The guppies calmed down in the betta tank, they breathing slowed to normal rate...

Thanks Val-- I will call my fish dude tomorrow. I panicked and vacuumed the tank realizing that I had skipped it due to the babies. It is now 3 am my time and I woke up and decided to check the value and it has come down to 1.0. The guppies are looking much better in the other tank. the...

    Nitrite Problem

:( :( :( :( I found some great guppies so I got 4. I put them in my 10 gallon tank. The tank has been running since the end of April. It had Mollies to start with until I discovered a baby. The adults were moved so it was just the baby. Then a friend gave me her only surviving baby...

    Ornamental Guppies

Okay, I took the pictures of the book and am going to try to post them in the picture forum. I could not figure out how to do it here, but it didn't seem possible. Perhaps I should invest in some computer books before I get more fish. -_-

    Dalmation Molly Crisis

I am very sorry to hear of your problems. I just lost my tank of Mollies to dropsy. I tried treating the others after I discovered the cause in the first patient. One by one they all got sick over the following month. I thought they were so pretty in the store. I hope that there is not the...

    Hot Water!!

Cutechic, I did a water change before I thought of the ice cubes and then the temperature dropped. My tropical tanks were at a good temperature so I only put the ice sticks in the goldfish tank. The local drug store had these refreezable plastic sticks for your drinks, and that is what I used...

    Ornamental Guppies

    help needed A>S>A>P

I am new to fish and bought serveral books. Pop-eye was a disease I read about. In "The Everything Tropical Fish Book," the description is just that the eyes appear to be bulging from their sockets. The book says to check the water quality and not to feed for a few days. In "Mollies...

    Betta Attack

Benny continues to act normal despite missing part of his fin. Sam was angry to be in a time out bowl. Being a teacher on summer vacation and having just had foot surgery, I'll begin the kungfu lessons immediately. Should be more enjoyable than daytime TV. :D

    Betta Attack

No Sam somehow got in with Benny. Squeezed between the glass top and divider. It was a definite attack. Poor Benny was beautiful this morning.

    Betta Attack

I needed to move my 5 gallon tank that is home to 1 betta(Sam) and a catfish(Tom). So I put the divider in my 10 gallon tank which held only one betta (Benny). I moved Sam and Tom into the big tank. Somehow Sam got in with Benny and attacked his fins. Of course I moved Sam into a bowl for...

    Hot Water!!

Thanks for everyone's input. I had surgery so I have not been home to check the site. The water cooler seems too expensive and complicated for me since I have 5 tanks. However, the ice in the bag led mee to an idea. I am going to purchase some of those refreezable ice cubes for your...

    movin or still????

New to fish, I have to agree with everyone. I had a betta who never moved and seemed sad so I put him in a 10 gallon tank and he was so happy. :D I got another betta for a 5.5 gallon tank and he hides all day in the plants. I have a third betta in a betta bowl (.5 gallons) who swims around...

    Tiger Barbs

Thanks again to all! We decided to put them in the community tank so they would have the space. So far, so good. They seem to be calmer. The red tailed sharks seem to patrol the tank. :)

    Tiger Barbs

The red tailed sharks get along fine. The community seems very happy. The elephant noses hide all day. One hides under a rock bridge, the other in a "log" decoration. The one in the log has not been seen in days, so we were worried he was stuck. We removed the log today and he seemed fine...

    Tiger Barbs

Thank you to all for you input. I will pass in the information onto the science teacher. It will help us decide how to make the summer arrangments. Of course, we are functioning on donations and our own pockets to fund this hands-on science room. Definitely a bigger tank for next year...

    Is my water too cold?

Hi! I also have a 10 gallon tank with 4 goldfish. Now I am a horse person who just got into fish six weeks ago. But I read that goldfish should be in water that is about 65 ish. At 80 F they are more susceptible to disease. Also oxygen levels decrease in warm water, now why this effects...

New Mollie Owner in Need of HELP

Thanks again to all! My Mollie clearly had dropsy and was suffering so I helped her to fish heaven. The ammonia levels are about 1.0 ish. I did a water change yesterday and will do a good vacuuming job/water change today. My aggressive male is still separated by a divider. I think I leave...

    I got a mollie swimming

My mollie is doing acting strange as well. She is standing on her nose!?! I recently gave the tank some frozen brine shrimp and changed their food to a livebearer mix with tubifex worms. Until I saw your post, I did not consider food; however, mine is clearly sick. I did not see this tank...
