Yes, corydoras are very social and need to be with their own kind. C. aeneus seems to be more social then some of the other cories. Once while moving mine, I could only catch 5 of the 6 I have. When I finally caught the other one and put it in the tank with the group, they all went crazy once...

Sounds like they were really stressed at the store, since they were faded like that and not really active. They should settle in and regain their color. If they dont, then there might be something else wrong with them. Nice skunk cories. I have 7 of them and they are among my favorite cories...

Im guessing you are talking about Albino C. Aeneus. If so, they will usually spawn very soon after a water change. The ones that lasted a few days probably hatched into the tank. The eggs take about 3-4 days to hatch. If the water is warm, then they will probably hatch sooner then that...

How young are they? That will also determine what to feed them. I would feed them a good qualty flake food (I use Ocean Nutrtion), some kind of sinking wafer (I use Hikari Sinking wafers and Tetramin tropical tablets), spirulla disks, algea wafers and some frozen blood worms. I also feed mine...

Thats pretty much it. Cories cant get the salt out of their systems quick enough. Cories and large amounts of salt dont mix, unless you are treating them for something. Also, are Halfbeaks aggressive? Cories dont do well at all with aggressive tank mates either.

I agree. If you are wanting to save some eggs, then you need to put them in a breeding net or another tank. Most cories will eat their eggs, and peppered cories seem to do it more then others. Ive seen peppered cories spawn and the other adults come behind and eat the eggs as the female layed...

I agree, they do look like Corydoras schwartzi, but a better picture would definately help.

They are a great fish. I have 8 of them and its really fun to watch them in a big school swim throughout the tank. As for the orange lasers, again a great fish, but that price is very high. Have you thought about ordering some fish online?

Sounds normal to me. Mine do crazy stuff like that all the time. Their new thing is to swim circles in the air bubbles from the air stone...

Just remember C. sterbai like warmer water then most other cories. C. schwartzi is a great looking cory. I plan on getting some in the future. What other cories can you choose from?

Good choice :good: I dont see a problem with that... Yes, very easy. Water changes and keeping them well fed. Eventually, once they start spawning, they will spawn on their own all the time if the water conditions are right. Yes, a sand substrate is ideal for most corydoras.

Like richchappy said, if you can post some picture of the fish in question, I can try to help. EDIT: odds are they are Corydoras trilineatus, which are often misslabeled as Corydoras julii.

Im not using live plants yet. I havent taken the time to research for live plants. The only thing that bothers me about using live plants with cories is that the plants take a lot of the oxygen out of the water and the cories require lots of oxygen. Inchworm taught me that :good:

I have over 90 cories scattered throughout 4 tanks. 3 of them are cory only tanks. Your tank looks good. I bet they will really like living there :D

The ones with the 2 black stripes are Corydoras axelrodi. They are among my favorites too. There are 11 of them scattered throughout that tank :rolleyes: You can mix cories with no problems as long as you make sure they have the same requirements (temperature, PH, stuff like that). C...

If you get the Albino C. Aeneus, which odds are you will as they are very common, then they will most likely spawn very well for you as long as the water conditions are right. If you are interested and the cories are old enough, then you can tell the difference in a male/female by looking down...

The big thing in the middle is a piece of plastic bogwood. The rocks around the sides are some rocks I found and cleaned to go in the tank. I have rocks in all my tanks and the cories like to rest behind them.

I agree, the first step is to make sure you have the proper numbers of the species you have. Remember, the peppered cories like cooler water and the bronze (C. aeneus) like warmer water. What cory are you talking about when you say "three-striped" cory?

Its most likely not going to happen, but I would not try to breed two different species in the same breeding tank. Stick to one species per breeding tank.
