Does the depth of the tank effect how many watts you use per litre? the 240 I have is 2ft deep. 1W per 3L is still the way to go? I just wan't to be 100% sure because I will be buying the lights/substrate tomorrow.

The light in my current tank is around 1 watt per 3 litres and I have no problem with plant growth, your imput is appreciated though, I just perfer the low tech approach when it comes to planted tanks.

Would you suggest a lower light? maybe 1 watt per 3 litres? I'd rather not deal with a Co2 system. I have alot of the plants I listed in my current aquarium without CO2 and the growth rate is perfect.

Thanks for the plant suggestion. I'm not a huge fan of anubias unfortunately, but I may consider it as I do plan on having a large piece of drift would as a center piece for the tank. I may tie some flame/java moss to it.

Just check the gumtree website in your area for fish tanks (preferably around 10 gallons) You can pick up fish tanks pretty cheap on there, and it would be better for the betta if he was in his own tank. A 14 litre tank is just abit too small for a betta.

Hello, I'm viewing a 50 gallon (240 Litre) aquarium tomorrow with ligh/heater/filter. The seller is asking £70 ($117) for the tank. Is this a good price? I'm a novice when it comes to buying tanks. Also, Is a 50 gallon tank a decent size? would you recommend a bigger tank? And one more thing...

For starters, you should never buy that many fish at once. Second, that tank sounds way over stocked. And you should NEVER add fish store water into your tank. Please return some of those fish if you wan't them to live. 

I like the chili rasboras with cherry shrimp idea. How many chilli rasboras would you suggest for a 10 gallon tank? and how many cherry shrimp? thanks
