    Blue Rams Keep Dying

I would have to disagree only because the source keeps his tanks at 7.5 pH and the Rams there have been doing well. I've seen the same fish there for two months. My fish seem to acclimate fine. They get very colorful and are very feisty and hungry. They then go down hill after the 3-5 days. I...

    Blue Rams Keep Dying

Very frustrating experience with these fish. I've bought 5 now over the last 2 weeks and have lost 3. I now have another showing the same signs. They last between 3 and 5 days. The scenario is this: They do very well for the first 48-72 hours. The fish will then start to hide and lose some color...

White Stuff On The Mouth Of Convicts...update...its On My Electric Yel

Tetracycline did not do the job for me. The most recommended antibiotic is Kanamycyn (Kanaplex,Kanacyn, etc). If I could do it all over again I would find this med ASAP.

    Very Swollen Honey Gourami

Looks like Dropsy. Some antibacterial fish food containing tetracycline would be good for this. If the fish will not eat, TC added to the water is the next best thing.

Red Gills On Rainbow (not Ammonia!)

The idea is that the TC is used to treat the Columnaris and that the M2 is used to treat any secondary infections that frequently develop. Also, TC and especially M2 have not been known to have a major effect on the cycle... and so far I have had no effect there. Edit: I may have it backwards...

Red Gills On Rainbow (not Ammonia!)

I've read where TC and Maracyn2 were used in combo for Flex. So far my numbers are as good as when I got them. Plenty of aeration. 1 bubble wand, 1 other bubbler, and lots of aeration from the HOB with lowered water levels. 0 Ammonia 0 Nitrite 5 Nitrate after a WC I did the water change...

Red Gills On Rainbow (not Ammonia!)

Thanks for responding. The only symptom my fish have for gill flukes is the redness. This leads me to believe that it is most likely bacterial. I do admit that looking at other pics on the net it looks like an ammonia problem, but I test daily with different test kits and ammonia is a solid 0...

White Stuff On The Mouth Of Convicts...update...its On My Electric Yel

Yes I agree. However, this spread very fast and you could see the disease spread from the outside of the mouth, to the inside of the mouth, and then to the nose and to the top of the head within hours. The 'cotton-like' strings coming from the inside of the mouth was the definitive giveaway...

White Stuff On The Mouth Of Convicts...update...its On My Electric Yel

Looks like Columnaris. Just had a new Rainbow fish that died of Flexibacter (columnaris). He was fine, got stressed on the way home from the fish store, and developed the cotton mouth. He was dead 24 hour later. DO NOT HEAT THE TANK as Flexibacter likes high temps. 74F degs is a good temp. Treat...
