My ram cichlid died today, i had noticed last night it was spending a lot of time at the surface opening and closing its mouth, apart from that there has been nothing wrong :( please help
I had a guppy born in my tank with a bent spine and it lived for three years, which was longer than any other fry that mother dropped so maybe its not a bad thing at all! :)
I agree that this is a male fish, your tank isn't particularly big, it is possible that the males are trying to establish territory, especially if your tank is quite new.
Also what type of pleco is it? As some will soon out grow a tank that size.
As far as the bronze corys go I think that the longer one will be the male as females tend to be stockier and I bought two babies yesterday and can sex them maybe yours are younger.
Males are have more prominent dorsel fins as they tend to be pointier, females are slighly wider and their dorsel fins are more rounded, could you post some pictures of them,?
Sorry, the tank is 60 litres, they are peppered cory catfish and I had previously been advised against another ram, would you still reccomend bearing in mind my tank size? Also yes they were originally in the same friends even smaller tank but yes they are plecos.
In my tank currently I have:
1 male swordtail
2 female swordtail
1 balloon platy
1 ram cichlid
3 peppered cory catfish
My tank is a juwel rekord 60 litres (60x30x30cm) and has been set up for 3 years
I inherited a cory catfish from a friend who has changed to marine, she has always been by herself but today I bought two more, is this enough? Also does it matter that the original one is quite a bit larger?
My ram cichlid seems to be very subdude, she gets put in her place by the largest of the female swordtails, she is two years old so i doubt her behaviour will change. Would you still discourage this?
I have always had one female bristlenose in my tank and have recently inherited another female who is quite a bit larger. The larger one will scare the other off if she wants to feed where the smaller one is. Should I be concerned about this?
