so this fish NEEDS to be in a SW tank eventually? or can it be kept at a 1.005 to 1.010 SG for it's whole life?

Hello all, I am a newb to all of this, but I now have a 55gal tank with a Colombian Shark. I understand that they will become full marine fish when mature, but what will happen to this fish if I leave it primarily FW? Thanks in advance! Rosco
