    So many questions...

Hi, I'll apologise up front for this post but I'm so confused So when I bought my original tank it was intended as a goldfsh tank for my daughter so I literally bought a bag of gravel and chucked everything in. As I'm now the owner of this tank and it's full of temperate fish ( not goldfish)...

Thanks. I have some of that so will definitely give that a go too.

    Upgrading to new tank

I don't have the option of moving filters between tanks as they are incorporated into the tanks themselves. I'll be moving rocks, all live plants etc and I'll put my old filter media into the new filter. Hopefully this will help.

    Upgrading to new tank

I can't do that, on both tank's the filter is part of the tank itself so I can't transfer them. If I can I'll use the sponges from my original filter and put them in the new filter. I guess that's better than nothing?

    Upgrading to new tank

It's a totally different filter but I do regular water changes so my current tank is clean anyway.

    Upgrading to new tank

I think I might keep my original tank. Buy new gravel and use some of my plants from original tank. If then then do a water change on my original tank and use the tank water in my new tank and top up with dechlorinated water is that correct and better for the fish or should I just start with...

    Upgrading to new tank

I'm not sure. I was thinking I might keep it and put my male platies in there so they don't keep reproducing.

    Upgrading to new tank

Hi everyone, as I now have lots of platies (and have literally just found another fry) I've just purchased a new tank. I'm going from a 35L to 110L. I'm just wondering which is the best way to transfer everything and the best way to landscape it. I've got gravel and live plants at the moment...

    Platy fry

Ok, I've done some research and my pleco isn't a pleco (as sold) it's a Hillstream Loach. Apparently they only grow to about 3-4 inches but like to live in groups of 3. I'll need to get a bigger tank now to get little Wesley Jnr some buddies.

    Platy fry

I've no idea to be honest. My tank isnt heated, it's temperate so I don't know if that makes a difference to the species I can keep. I'll try and get a good photo of him. He's not much bigger than my platies but his head splays out a bit like a ray of that makes sense.

    Platy fry

    What size would you recommend?

    Platy fry

My tank is 35L.. I have 5 platy, 3 small minnows and now 8( that I know of) platy fry. I also have a Plec and a nerite snail. Now the fry are getting bigger it's clear they need more room

    Platy fry

Hey, my local pets at home won't take fish anyway but I'll speak to Maidenhead as we have one nearby. I think I might get a bigger tank though.. any excuse eh! I don't know what size I need though.

    Platy fry

My platy fry are getting big now. Love these little guys but I think my tank is now over populated so I need to either rehome some fish or get a bigger tank

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

I bought my tank from pets at home (35l) and they refused to sell me a goldfish to go in it which is why I have platy and minnows in there now.

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Agreed.. but hiding behind my natural gravel, real plants and rocks is a pink castle ( tank was originally my daughter's and she won't let me remove it.. the fish like it too)

Nooooo! My Plec is my fave.. I love his little face... But I also have a pug. So maybe I just like ugly things.

Hi, I'm jumping on this thread as I just had exactly the same question my plants are growing like crazy. I keep having to thin them out. Is there too much vegetation in here? Thanks

    mom swordtail and platy issues

I left my platy in the main tank but bought loads of extra plants to create hiding places. When the fry were born I transferred then into another tank and then put them back in the main tank when they got big enough.

I went to aquarium today (pictures)

I love the redtail .. but if I ever saw one of those crabs in the wild I would literally never get in water again!!

    Tired pig dog

Hi, this is our pug Peanut. She's just about to turn 10 and has Degenerative Myelopathy so she has a little pink wheelchair. She's been out with us at the park all day today which she loved but she's a tired pup now

    Look at this cutie

We have an orange and black striped Neurite snail called Nismo ( after Nissan Motorsport for anyone that didn't know) and he's actually pretty fast! We also have a Plec called Wesley Jnr

My fry. Approx 6 weeks old

The mother is plain orange and there were two males in the tank. One is also orange with a black tail and the other is pale and stripey like you see in the pic. They've all been together since December with no other males.
