    Tropical To Coldwater?

Hi all. Just after some advice as I'm still only really thinking about doing this. How easy is it to change from a tropical tank to coldwater? I've got a 220L tank, with a Tetra EX700 filter and 300W heater which has been established for 5-6 years now. My current stock is: 4 x 2" Leopard...

    Eheim 2213 Questions-Please Help!

I do mate, I'm in Grays if you know it? I run the exact same filter on my 180L.

    Am I Overstocking?

I'd be careful mixing Gourami's and Guppies (especially Guppies) with a Betta. The Betta will destroy the Guppies, and may try and take some lumps out of the Gourami's.

    Fighting Fish & Gourami

Thanks for the replies guys. Can anyone recommend me some good additions? I'm looking for something a bit larger, something that isn't going to get huge though. This is what drew me to Gourami's as they were quite a size already, but wouldn't of got much bigger. I'm after a couple of...

Thanks for the reply. To be honest I'm waiting for the Rosy's to go, I was given them by a friend, and dont actually plan on getting any more. Thanks for the info.

    Fighting Fish & Gourami

Hi all. Was thinking of a couple of additions to my 180L. I've seen some Moonlight Gourami and a beautiful fighter in my LFS. Are they OK to share the same tank? I wouldn't like to add new fish that probably wont get on. Current stock is as follows: 1 3" Snowball Plec 10 Neons 4 Peppered...

Marine Sand And New Set Up Advice Please.

To be honest, I wouldn't recommend getting a Sailfin Plec for a 125L, it would grow far too large for that tank.

    Eheim External Filters

Another vote for Eheim. I've had my 2213 running for 5 weeks on my 180L, and since set up I haven't heard a peep out of it. Even changing sponges was easy as anything (although I'm using a + with built in taps). Highly recommended.

Nutrafin - Plant Gro & Shrimp

Hi all. A week or so ago I bought myself an Atya (Vampire Shrimp). I have 5 real plants in my tank, and bought some Plant Gro to help them along. Since adding this my shrimp seems to have pulled his arms up to his face, and doesn't seem to be feeding as he did. I'm a bit worried about him...

    Myxazin & Atya Shrimp

Hi all. I bought myself 8 Neon Tetra and a 2" Atya (Vampire) Shrimp today. I was advised by my LFS to add a half dose (2ml) of Myxazin treatment, to prevent any unwanted bacteria from the new fish attacking what I have in the tank already. After reading up on the shrimp a bit more, apparently...

    Spraybar/air Pump?

Hi all. Got my new tank up and running with my Eheim 2213. At the moment I'm just using the spraybar to oxygenate and agitate the water. Will this be enough oxygen for them? It seems to be chucking out a fair amount, but I just wondered if people would recommend using an airstone as well. Thanks.

    Feeding Habits

I feed mine once a day, and only what they'll eat in about 2-3 minutes. I like to vary there diet as well, usually every other day there fed bloodworm, brine shrimp or daphnia. Did try freeze dried Tubifex but they didn't seem to take to that.

    Cycling With/without Fish?

Just trying to garner a general concensus from the board, but what is your preferred cycling method? Admittedly this is my first 'new' tank, but I must say I'm erring on the side of cycling with fish. Thoughts?

New Tank - Sand - Still Cloudy?

http://s981.photobucket.com/albums/ae300/RobW1983/New%20tank/ That last pic was taken after emptying/refilling. Although, that is excatly how cloudy it was even after the filter had been running 24 hours. :-(

New Tank - Sand - Still Cloudy?

 LOL. I did just that, emptied the water and then refilled (I thought carefully) and yet it's still the same. I think it's best that I just leave it alone to be honest. How long does the 'crap' normally take to settle?

New Tank - Sand - Still Cloudy?

Yes mate, it got a good rinse. It's only B&Q Playsand, was £3.98 for a 25KG bag. Would that make a difference?

New Tank - Sand - Still Cloudy?

Hi all. Got my new tank set-up, and filled with sand and some water (60%, it's a 160L tank) and the filter is setup and running (Eheim 2213+). Although the filters been running for 18-19 hours now, the water is still really 'cloudy'. It isn't sand still floating around, as I waited for that to...

    Setting Up My New Filter

Hi all. Got my new tank in position today (160L). And my new Eheim 2213 Plus filter turned up today as well. I've been told that I could possibly use the media from my old tank (Juwel Rekord 60L). I tried to put some of the spare sponges I have into the Eheim, and I'd say there about 10-15%...

    Eheim Filters

 Oh well, hopefully I wont have to give them a call. I was thinking, as I heard they're pretty universal in which sponges they can take, could I put the sponges (full of bacteria) from my Juwel filter into that, and speed up the cycling process? Or have I completely misread...

    Eheim Filters

Well, I took your advice and just ordered this:- http://www.warehouse-aquatics.co.uk/aquarium-filtration/external-filters/eheim-external-filters/classic-range/eheim-classic-2213-plus-external-filter-free-media-p-2896.html Cant wait to get my new tank set up now! :good:

    Eheim Filters

Thanks for the quick reply. I've seen the 2213 Plus which will handle up to 250L (my tank is 160) for ~£50. I've read that it comes with inline taps which make it easier when cleaning, plus it's supplied with media. :good:

    Eheim Filters

Anyone have any experience of these? I've seen the 2213 Plus pretty cheap which would be ideal for my new size tank, but just wondered if there cheap for a reason. Cheers

    New Tank Size?

Also, is sand as 'good' as gravel? I'm planning on setting up the new tank with sand (as I think it looks nicer), and a few plants and ornaments that I have already. My fish at the moment are: 2 Glass Catfish 2 Panda Cory's 2 small Clown Loaches (30mm long) Snowball Plec (50mm long) 2 Rosy...

    New Tank Size?

My old tank is a 60L Juwel, with an internal filter. I need to buy myself a new filter. Do you mean just drop the old sponges in the new tank? Sorry for such newbie questions, but I haven't been keeping fish long (3 months).

    New Tank Size?

 LOL, perhaps I should open my eyes. Just need to try and get it cycled and ready for the fish from my old tank. Gonna be a pain as I'm a bit limited for space. How 'easy' is cycling? Any way I can use the water from my old tank and then top it up? My old tank is only 60L...

    New Tank Size?

Hi all. Just bought myself a new tank today. Can anyone help me work out the actual L size? The tank measures 1000mm x 400m x 400mm. Would I be right in saying that it's a 180L tank? Cheers.

    Just Saying Hello

Thanks for all the replies. I got myself some new fish today! 2 Glass Catfish 5 Neon Tetra 2 Swordtails I traded in the Angel I had, and since then all the other fish in the tank seem a lot happier and more playful. It seems that he bullied them a bit I guess. The rosy tetras in particular...
