My vote is for denisons / red line torpedo - very beautiful and so passive. By the way does anyone know how long they take to reach full size? We have 5 and have had them about 4 months but they don't seem to growing that much despite being fed well!

Tried asking this on the emergencies section but no joy. Does anyone know if interpet no 9 antibact needs to be half dosed for scalesss fish. It doesn't say so on the packet and I have tried looking at their website.

seriously depressed now,one of our original fish an albino cory has died...seemed very well...probably killed him with the antibacterial.The packet didn't say to reduce dose by half for scaleless fish. I feel like between the devil and the deep sea- do nothing and watch them die or continue...

Treated the tank with interpet no 9 in the end, Both still with us this am though neither look very happy ,particularly the dnrf...hanging around at the top of the tank still poor thing.

We recently lost a dwarf neon rainbow fish who was bloated...?why.She was put in a quarantine tank and stayed bloated and died. Now another DNRF is bloated and has reddening of bits of his body,no ulcers,no spots, no pine coning,normal poo but not as active AND one our 6 red line torpedos...

Yes,she is still active and feeding but still very fat. Thinking of putting her back in the main tank as she must be getting lonely. Who knows what has caused it????

From reading many threads on this forum,lots of people add water from a hoze straight in tank and then add dechlorinator to tank.They seem to have no probs so you should be fine. :rolleyes:

I was wondering what could be used to sterilise nets and the hospital tank etc after quaranteening poorly fish. We asked at lfs who suggested use high strength antibacterial med. This seems a very expensive way of sterilising and also surely won't get rid of things like ich /fungal spores etc...

Update :- She is still ridiculously fat, in fact I would asay more today. I fed her today a tiny amount as we've ben starving her. She is still active . ... does anyone have a clue from the photos what could be wrong..if anything ..and how long should we keep her in the hospital tank...

I have a fab way of putting veg in. I was given an extendable fondue fork some time ago and then had a brain wave. I just stab the veg and put the fork in the tank . It can be extended to whatever height the tank is ! ..my hands don't even get wet and the veg stays down. When been in long...

We do have an air pump as well in the maintank and don't use co2 either. All the other fish are fine and don't lurk near the surface. She has only started overbreathing since she became fat. I will try and put a piccy on this evening when back from work.

She is still with us, still fat, on the lookout for food though we have only put in peas which she still spits out, cucumber..not interested and a tiny fragment of algae wafer to check she was still eating- which she wolfed down. Doesn't seem any thinner despite epsom salts, will try aeration...

She's just been to the toilet and it looked normal. Hasn't made her any thinner though. She is still swimming on the lookout for food and tasting anything that resembles it. Still lots of mouth opening though.

we are quite lucky and not only do our 2 lfs quarantine their new arrivals but offer a 7 day guarantee if you return fish with sample of your water. Not had to do yet.

Yes, many fish prefer lower pH ( though many like higher pH also). They do say that fish can acclimatize but we preferred to get fish that were happier in our pH range. Many of the tetras do best in lower pH. We used tropical fish finder a lot. If someone suggested a fish I checked on there it...
