Yes Black Phantom Tetras. Should I extend the panted area of the tank, or can I just add some floating plants for the cories?

So the tank dimensions are 36" wide, 12" deep (minus the bow), 21" tall, but I have saved 2/5 to 1/3 of the tank for a densely planted area which I never thought cories would like.

So, instead of the Silvertips and Phantoms, what would you recommend? I was thinking about Ember tetras, but if feeding is an issue they may not be the best.

I have decided against danios, so now I am basing my choices off of which fish are in stock when I get them. But I am still looking for a fish to swim around the plants.

I went around my property and found these sticks. I know that they are at least 1 year old, the oldest is probably 4 years old. The only problem with these braches is that they are Cottonwood branches, and I do not know if they are fish and aquarium safe.
