    RTB

In my 28g (see sig), I've got a RTBS. Most of the time everything's OK, but occassionally the Red Tail goes on one and chases the Barbs all over the place. I think it's the Red Tails way of saying 'I'm boss, and don't forget it :flex: '

Mixing Tiger Barbs with other species

I don't agree that Tiger Barbs are overly aggressive towards other fish, in fact I think they're fantastic fish as along as there kept in a big enough group (at least six in a group). In a big enough group, IME, their fin nipping tendancies go out the window as they only chase each other about...

    need help

When I went away recently for a couple of weeks, I gave my key to my neighbour (with a full list of instructions). When I came back they were all fine :D

    Firemouth compatibility

I have the chance of getting (for free, from one of my neighours) a 28(UK) gallon (125 litres) tank and I was thinking about Firemouths. Basically, how many could go in a tank this size, and what else could go with them  There's no guarantee I'll get this tank, so I thought I'd just...

    How many gallons is this?

Yeah, I agree with that. My downstairs one is 37/16/22 (inches) and that's 180 litres (or 40 UK gallons).

    Number Of Fish

I notice from your sig that you've 3 clown loaches in a 25 (UK) gallon tank. Everything I've read about clown loaches on the Net (and another discussion board that I'm a member of), says that they can grow up to 12 inches (30cm)! One of my lfs has two (fully grown) of these in a tank (on their...

    Adding a couple fish...

Look at my sig. Tiger/Green Barbs need to be kept in a big enough group (at least six, of each). I read on the net (before I got them) that they were very aggressive. Having had them for some seven months, I have to admit I don't find them aggressive at all, as long as they're kept with...

    Rio 300

Try www.aquacare.co.uk. That's where I got my first Jewel tank from, and they do lights for Jewel RIO 300's.

    String Algae

This stuff is proving to be a real problem in my 28 gallon. I regularly have to pick the stuff off the plants (usually with my fingers). I have no idea what can stop it!

would this be possible in my tank?

Tiger Barbs can be aggressive especially when kept in a small group (under 6). Introducing a RTBS really puts them in their place. In my 28 gallon, the barbs get chased all over the place, but strangely he totally ignores the harlequins!

acquired a 39 gallon...what to stock it with?

My 40 UK gallon tank is below.

    Filter medium

In my tanks the instructions say that the filter media should be squeezed (in aquarium water syphoned from the tank) every three to six months, and then replaced between six and twelve months. Both my tanks have four filter media, so I have to stage it so that they all don't get cleaned or...
