    Easy Red Plants

Yes I do. There is a balance that you find between C02 and 02 levels before you add fish. You find this balance by the use of a drop checker. To be 100% honest, the fish in my high tech planted tank are actually larger and look healthier than the fish in my normal tanks. Maybe this is due to...

    Easy Red Plants

High lighting and C02 injection are staples of high tech planted tanks. C02 helps in plant growth. It is a complicated rabbit hole to go down but after you have had success with it, it's hard to try another planted tank without it.

    Easy Red Plants

Alternanthera reineckii wasn't too difficult for me. From what I understand though, plants with red thrive with C02 and Iron. I just sort of tried my hand at it and was successful, although I have since moved on from it. I run a high tech C02 injected tank, if that is any help to you.

90g Wide Tank Topwater and Midwater Oddball Stocking

Distochodus would outgrow that tank in about 8 months. They tend to get super aggressive and could really do some damage to the bichirs. Their dental structure is INSANE!!

    My two ugly 29s

Paint the background black. Make the hardware less noticeable. Keep background plants in the background. I think that the tank looks great, But the competition is tough around here. Also, I think that the contests here should be anonymous, we shouldn't know who owns the tank and it's backstory...

    Ever buy fish online?

I have bought fish online before, but only cichlids. I have bought from both Don Conkels Tropicals and Tangled Up In Cichlids, and had awesome experiences every time. When you deal with seasoned pros, you can usually expect to have a great experience.

Your LFS nearby lets show em all

I hear a lot about Maidenhead Aquatics on multiple fish keeping forums that I frequent. I would love to see a pictorial tour of the place :good: (and I am a HUGE Iron Maiden fan, so the name appeals to me ;) )

    ADHD

I've had it all of my life, but wasn't diagnosed until 11 years ago at age 39. I am sure that I would have probably fared differently had I been diagnosed as a kid, as far as long term education goes (I am a high school graduate with a little bit of college) but the past is the past. I am...

    My New World Cichlid Adventure

Both are great looking fish IMO, and both can be ticking time bombs as far as aggression goes, but I have seen some adult male Mayans kept solo in captivity that would make me think twice about reaching my hand in their area for anything.

    My New World Cichlid Adventure

Looking good!! I am not an expert on all things festae, but the tail spot on those juveniles is really large, which has my novice cichlid brain thinking that you may have some cichlasoma uropthalmus, aka Mayan cichlid, aka false red terror. Did you acquire them from a reputable source?

Split Substrate Tanks-what are your views? + My Sunken Plane Wreck aqua-scape idea

Carpeting plants do not tend to do well with sand as a substrate. I like the idea of where you're going with this though :)

    Flame Tetra

They are listed as endangered and are on the Brazilian red list of threatened species (since 2004). They are gone from much of their native range and exist only in a few, fragmented wild populations. This fish is one of the species that can partially thank the aquarium hobby as being it's saving...

Cafeteria Coffee , Espresso cooker Coffee , Filter Machine Coffee Instant or tea!

Just to be clear, I have been clean and sober from alcohol, narcotic drugs and cannabis for over 14 years. Caffeine is OK for me. Sugar is another substance that I sometimes struggle to find a healthy balance with. Never was a nicotine guy.

Cafeteria Coffee , Espresso cooker Coffee , Filter Machine Coffee Instant or tea!

I run early in the morning, so I usually have 1 cup of coffee via my Keurig K cup machine. By the time I am finished with my run, I go to Starbucks for a proper 4 shots of espresso, which I cool down with a splash of ice water and drink all at once, because they are shots. I find no enjoyment in...

    Considering an L200

Just do it. From your description you have the ideal tank for it, and with all of the places to hide, it should thrive. Most Expensive Hobby’s Besides Fish Keeping?

I am an ultra distance runner, meaning I like to run races longer than the marathon distance, 50K to 100 miles. For years I worked for a major running shoe company so all of my shoes and clothing were free. I am no longer working for that company, so I spend about 150$ on shoes every 1.5-2...

Is your tank planted, (apart from algae)?

With my planted tank I go all out. High lighting, CO2, quality substrate, etc.... It gets very costly to do that on multiple tanks so I just do it on 1 of my 3. Another is a SA cichlid community, so plants are a no go there, and the 3rd is a low tech semi planted platy/shrimp colony (I can't...
