However fishless cycling should be done in the dark. Ammonia + light = bad algae. Plants need light. Personally I would wait until after the cycle.

Yea that looks ok. Have no experience with these myself but the write up on them sounds promising. Whats your current lighting? T5s? T8s? And how many? Do you dose ferts? Carbon? Co2?

Maybe when your bps is as high as mine it becomes unstable when the clyinder is only 1/2 or 3/4 full. Thats the only explination I can come up with.

Yes I have 2 gauges but neither had moved. Strange. One was showing at 3bar, which is what I have my inline set at, and the second was the cylinder pressure which was showing as full. Time will tell.

Well changed the fe. The needle did drop when I took the reg off. However now the new fe is plumbed up the needle valve has become sensitive again. The FE has been in use for 3 months, its a 5kg and has been running at approx 4-5bps. Reg is only 3 months old too and dont have another gauge to check. Il change the FE see if that makes a difference.

Not strong enough for plants im affraid. High powered leds are needed. Minimum of 3w per led.

My bubble counter keeps dropping off/slowing down. Over the last few of days iv been constantly turning up my needle valve to achieve the bubble count I want, but then it just slowly slows down again over a period of a few hours. Iv checked for leaks and cant find none, gauge on reg is reading...

Im going to go against the grain here and say Digital. All mine are digital, never had a problem and always been reliable and I find them very easy to set. You can program different times each day if need be and they display the time which makes it alot easier to sync em all. There a little more...

Hi there and welcome to the forum. I assume by elements you mean media? Sponges, bio max and carbon? The sponges and bio max or bio media dont need to be replaced. By replacing them every month your losing a good portion of your beneficial bacteria which in turn will give you ammonia spikes...

Hi As long as it is KNO3 or KH2PO4 and nothing else your be fine:-) I would recommend grade A if poss The analysis will be a bit different from say grade A to grade D but tbh is shouldnt effect much. Worse case scenario is you may see a slight Nitrate, Phosphate or Potassium deficiency to begin...

Thats actually a great idea. However it wont work for me as I have a fx5 which is much bigger than most buckets. Iv taken the hood completely off now and switched off all heaters to see if that makes a difference. It shouldnt as the heater should only switch on when the water temp drops below...

Oh snazy im really sorry for your loss. Its so annoyingly hard to keep the temp under control in these weather condition. Have you tried filling up bottles with water, freezing them and then floating them in the tank?
