Try putting the temp up to 29c. Tank mate might help it become more sociable, are there other hiding places?

I have 6 rams at a ph of 7.6... Ph shouldn't be an issue, make sure you have a sand substrate, hiding places, and a temp at around 29c, you should be fine with 3 in your tank then!

I feed all 6 of mine pellet and brine shrimp, then blood worms every few days... They also like abit of flake! Try feeding brine shrimp they go mad for it! They do like picking at the bottom and sand would benefit them massively!! I would get 2femakes and a male in the tank if I was you...

Donkey that told you that, sand will settle to the floor won't effect your filter! What you feeding them? What the temp at?

Sand substrate, temp set to 29c, brine shrimp = winning IMO

Its a blue panaque. The fins are not frayed and are supposed to be bluey White. It's more the White on his body I'm worried about!

It's not a teroratol issue and him being in that place doesn't concern me, it's the blotchy White patches on his skin.... When I got him it was alll black with s gold shimmer !?

I never quarantined mine and they are fine and dandy, just introduced them into my tank like any other fish no problems!!

Personally I'd go with sand!! Weather you want dark sand or not that's your choice but sand appeals to a wider variety of fish

Search "fishless cycle" there is a very good thread on it with all the info you need! Cloudy water could be a bacteria bloom, should settle in a day or two

Yes indeed, I did say earlier on I will be re homing 3/4. They are only juveniles at the mo, inch big if that.

I know what you mean about the plec but iv become attached lol. Good news - water tests after 24hours of fish in the tank came back perfect big :) Will be buying some more plants this weekend and maybe some more tetras!!

Thanks for the info ;) I have been thinking of giving the plec a new home but I'm kinda attached to him now. I currently have: 1 blue panaque plec 5 cardinal tetras - will be increasing numbers 6 german blue rams - 3 will be re honed when they grow up

I tried that before I put it in looked silly in all honesty... It's now stuck there forever lol More plants tomorrow, oh and my fish are now in ;)
