    Newbie Camera?

Agreed. D40s are actually quite a tricky model of camera, in as much that you are very limited on your lens choice and unlike the Nikon D50/D300/D2/D2X etc etc - with which you have a very wide choice of lenses. Alys

Nominations For November 2010 Potm Comp.

Hopefully, I'm doing this right..please tell me if I'm not  My pretty dogs Snowy and Titch have both been put forward for Potm, and here they are: Both of them like to be the centre of attention and are very much the "children" of our family. I'd do anything for them. This is the...

    My Mini-Zoo! :)

Aw, thanks for all the lovely remarks about my horde of fluffy pets - I'm sure they really appreciate it :) I had thought about it actually, but I think his willingness to obey may be an issue at the moment - he's rather a headstrong little puppy, even with hours of training!

    A Few Of My Photos..

Thank you :) The background was very dark to begin with (used a flash on the mushroom itself) and then in postprocessing I darkened the background only very slightly.

    Newbie Camera?

That being the case, I would recommend you checking out the older, but always superb, Nikon D50. It's considered to be an entry level DSLR and is robust enough to take a lot of punishment and is fully of automatic controls so that you can pick and choose what you want, without having the hassle...

    Someone's Eating My Platys!

From experience, the females are generally more aggressive. Out of interest, how many males do/did you have in comparisson to females? I always try to keep them at a ratio of 1 male to every 3 females. This way it tends to dilute any aggression and also means there aren't too many males always...

    My Mini-Zoo! :)

Aw, thank you :) They used to love sitting on that tank - shame that it sprung a leak a few weeks back and had to be replaced. Alys

    Barbs

Yup, sounds normal to me too. We have a mixture of 20 or so Tiger Barbs: Standard, Green and Albino and they go through spells of chasing and "fighting" with each other. I've never seen the nipping turn into anything more aggressive and they don't seem to damage themselves. I've seen smaller...

    Someone's Eating My Platys!

I've experienced this in the past, and quite recently as well. I used to have a group of 20 Platys with only a few Guppies and Neons to keep them company. I introduced some Zebra Danios and within a few days my Platys had started to look battered and I lost a few within the space of a week...

    A Few Of My Photos..

I have a couple of cameras and take them out with me whenever I can, so here are a few "recent" ones: A close-up shot of a mushroom, taken in a local park. My Land Rover "Douglas", with a friend, sitting on the beginning of Wrynose Pass in Cumbria. My puppy, Titch, having a bit of a play...

    My Mini-Zoo! :)

I thought I'd post a few pictures of my non-aquatic family..and there's a fair few of them: First, there is Snowy - my Lhaso-Apso x female. She is a rescue dog and was used on a Puppy Farm prior to me taking her on: Then there's Titch, he's a Patterdale x and is about 10 months old now...

Red Tailed Black Shark For Sale

I have to say that I'm totally gutted that I don't like closer to Leicester (I'm in Norwich) - I have been looking for a largeish RTBS for near on a year now, for my husband's large community setup. Hopefully another one will turn up soon and I hope he finds a new home for it!
