I am going to build a Diy wet dry filter for my 55 gallon freshwater tank. I already have a 10 gallon tank to use as a sump. What is the best design for the overflow and the filter itself. What is a good material for the drip plate?

I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank. The fish inside are: Black Ghost Knife Pleco Pictus 2 Bala sharks 3 silver dollars They are all young and the largest is the Black ghost knife at 5-6 in. I think that i need to have a wet dry for the future for these fish, maybe even a bigger tank eventually...
