    Feeding Fish...

Im going to look into getting frozen foods, Bloodworms/Cyclops etc... I can get 5X 100g blister packs for just under £10 which is pretty decent. This along with the pellets I have already should do the job. When feed the frozen food, do you just break it up and put it in the tank or do you...

    Feeding Fish...

I found this on ebay: Click Here Would these be ideal as a feed for the corys/harlequins/neons? That on top of some frozen food such as the bloodworms or daphnia? Sorry for being a pest, I just need to get away from using flakes as they are getting stuck on the plants in the tank :(

    Feeding Fish...

That stock list sounds decent, cheers for that :) Regarding the feed for the fish. Are the algae wafers best for the corys and flakes/pellets for the others along with the corys too? And every few days give them a treat of some frozen food? Ive seen the frozen food in the pet shop and the cubes...

    Feeding Fish...

My tank is 60L, would adding another 4 corys be ok? I also plan to get a school of neon tetras at some point in the next couple of weeks once the current fish have settled in. Im not too bothered about making the live food, if it means better for the fish then i aint too bothered. How often...

Ive been reading about algae wafers for the Cory...are these any good comapred to the tropical pellets. Also, im interested in feeding them brine shrimp, ive seen the kits you can make to hatch...

Ah, so the nitrite is 0 when it stays blue as you add it to the test tube. Got ages to go then! lol

    My Fishless Cycle Log

Cycle stats updated. Ammonia seems to be dropping from 3-4ppm in a day, I am unable to test every exactly every 12 hours as I work 11 hour shifts, which sucks :( When I test for Nitrite, the liquid turns purple right away but after you leave it for the 5 mins as per instruction, the liquid turns...

That makes sense actually, I will dose at 2ppm from now on during the nitrite spike, im just glad that things are starting to get into shape :)

    Wanted: Plastic/silk Plants

Hi, Im looking to get enough plastic/silk plants to comfortably fill a 64L setup. Any sizes really as I can cut them down to size to make more if they're too big. Cheers

So now that the nitrite is spiking, do I dose ammonia to about 3-4ppm when it reaches 0? How often should I test for Nitrite as this can take a while to come down so no point in wasting tests on it?

    My Fishless Cycle Log

Cycle stats are updated! Ammonia seems to be dropping a lot quicker now, nitrite turned purple instantly at the bottom of the test tube today so from what ive read, that means its off the chart :P

Ammonia is dropping, Nitritie is now sitting at 1 and Nitrate between 5 and 10 on the cards that come with the API test kit :)

What would the best option for plant nutrition be? I have seen that Tetra PlantaMin...but not sure if these liquid based ones are the best? I have updated my cycle log (link of first post) and the ammonia is dropping! :)

I am planning on ordering plants online for the tank once its ready. When the plants arrive, how long can they stay out of the water for (In their packaging)? I cant guarantee that I will be off the day they arrive and I work all day, so if they were to arrive early in the morning then they...

Waterdrop, you know your stuff! I wasnt that great at chemistry in school, was good at making stuff explode and go on fire, but never got the theory perfect :) I kind of understand what youre saying by adding the baking soda, or Bicarbonate of Soda to be more precise :P - How often should it be...

I will test ammonia again tomorrow and see what the results are, its definitely lighter than previous results, maybe the water change helped? Glasgow airport is about half hour from my house, you may have seen signs for Greenock coming out of the airport :)

Ok, done an 80% water change, cleaned the filter sponges in the tank water, and replaced with treated tap water. I turned the flow deflector uptowards the top of the tank which is now creating a pleasing rippling effect (And surface agitation). I am letting the water settle and get back to its...

I will see if I can send him a PM shortly, got to head to work in a few minutes :( When I got home from work I might just try the large water change (90%) and let it run again for a day then test ammonia levels, then top up to around 3ppm where necessary. Another long day at work is about to...

The filter is an Interpet PF2, it came with the tank which has a 64l capacity. The filter contains 1 normal foam pad, 1 carbon foam pad and what looks like a small basket of ceramic biomedia just before the impeller. If you Google Interpet PF2 then u can get the exact details of the media in the...

The tank temperature is around 29c, so once the cycle has finished this can be turned down which might result in a decrease in condensation. The tank does have a plastic tray that separates the water from the hood from splashes, but its only have the size of the tank itself from front to back...

    My Fishless Cycle Log

Thanks again waterdrop for your advice :) I am having an issue with the tank, there is a lot of condensation gathering at the top of the tank (In the hood) and everytime I lift it up all the water drips down the back of the tank and onto the floor, is there anyway to reduce this to stop water...

    My Fishless Cycle Log

Thanks waterdrop, the tests are indeed liquid based, API Master Test Kit. The Ammonia is getting lighter on the chart, between 2 and 4 but there are no signs of Nitrite as of yet. Is this normal. I will adjust the temperature back to around 29 but keep the aeriation off at the moment. I will...

Almost a week now since I started cycling the tank and the Ammonia readings seems to be staying put. New 64L Tank...

What's the best option for the PF2 filter in terms of media? Or is the stuff it came with good enough for the job? Also, I was wanting to go for an external filter in the future, would this mean the cycling would have to be done all over again?

    New 64L Tank...

Might just wait till the tank is cycled before adding plants as the algae etc will make them look horrible. Done a test tonight after work and the ammonia is around 4-5ppm, Nitrite and Nitrate both at 0ppm. Should I expect to see the Nitrite go up once the ammonia goes down? As regards to...
