That makes sense actually, I will dose at 2ppm from now on during the nitrite spike, im just glad that things are starting to get into shape :)

So now that the nitrite is spiking, do I dose ammonia to about 3-4ppm when it reaches 0? How often should I test for Nitrite as this can take a while to come down so no point in wasting tests on it?

Cycle stats are updated! Ammonia seems to be dropping a lot quicker now, nitrite turned purple instantly at the bottom of the test tube today so from what ive read, that means its off the chart :P

Ammonia is dropping, Nitritie is now sitting at 1 and Nitrate between 5 and 10 on the cards that come with the API test kit :)

I will test ammonia again tomorrow and see what the results are, its definitely lighter than previous results, maybe the water change helped? Glasgow airport is about half hour from my house, you may have seen signs for Greenock coming out of the airport :)

The filter is an Interpet PF2, it came with the tank which has a 64l capacity. The filter contains 1 normal foam pad, 1 carbon foam pad and what looks like a small basket of ceramic biomedia just before the impeller. The tank temperature is around 29c, so once the cycle has finished this can be turned down which might result in a decrease in condensation. The tank does have a plastic tray that separates the water from the hood from splashes, but its only have the size of the tank itself from front to back...

Thanks again waterdrop for your advice :) I am having an issue with the tank, there is a lot of condensation gathering at the top of the tank (In the hood) and everytime I lift it up all the water drips down the back of the tank and onto the floor, is there anyway to reduce this to stop water...

Tank is still cycling with the Ammonia around the same level (4ppm) but the tank is starting to smell really bad. Ive turned the heat down a bit. What can be done about the smell or is it just gona have to wait till the water changes?

What's the best option for the PF2 filter in terms of media? Or is the stuff it came with good enough for the job? Also, I was wanting to go for an external filter in the future, would this mean the cycling would have to be done all over again? :blink:

Might just wait till the tank is cycled before adding plants as the algae etc will make them look horrible. Done a test tonight after work and the ammonia is around 4-5ppm, Nitrite and Nitrate both at 0ppm. Should I expect to see the Nitrite go up once the ammonia goes down? As regards to...
