    Ammonia. What is happening!?

Sorry, I think we are miscommunicating. I did not detail each step of Dr Tims that I took at the beginning (I just paraphrased by saying i started the process). This was completed between the dates that I marked 1/6-1/28, I added comments above in purple. As for plants, they are still getting...

    Ammonia. What is happening!?

Hi, thanks for the tips. I did follow his instructions and dosed to 2ppm then followed the regime. I did a water change after initial nitrate spike to lower them. I have continued to do maintenance water changes only.

    Ammonia. What is happening!?

I will definitely look into the chloramine, it had never been an issue before but they may have changed something! Plants were added the end of February, I haven't added anything new since then - just water changes and testing.

    Ammonia. What is happening!?

Hi all. In all my years dealing with aquariums, I cannot for the life of me figure out what is happening here and I'm close to just starting over. Timeline 1/6/23 Tank set up - Declorinated water, sand substrate, HOB filter (new, nothing established), Dr Tims bacteria, started ammonia dosing...

    White...film? On plants.

That is what I initially thought, and it might be for sure. I was just off put by that idea when i noticed it was a bit stringy and almost like pieces of film. Makes sense though.

    Planted tanks for dummies

New (of course) to planted tanks but after it was suggested to me here at TFF, I think I want to give it a shot - gradually. CO2 - Need? Are there plants that don't require supplemented CO2? I am mostly interested in keeping things as natural as possible and fish friendly. Fertilizer - Need...

    New to freshwater community tanks

Substrate - what do you suggest? I’m reading that some for planted tanks can be tricky when cycling. I plan to use Dr Tim’s bacteria and ammonia to do a fish less cycle if that makes any difference.

    New to freshwater community tanks

Thank you! I've definitely got the basics down in all but plants and their lighting (outside of reef/coral). I wasn't particularly planning a planted tank but I do see the pro's, and its a chance to learn something else new so why not? Because it was formally a smaller saltwater tank, it has an...

    New to freshwater community tanks

Hi all! I am a newbie when it comes to all things surrounding freshwater community tanks. I have several years of saltwater, reef, and various cichlid knowledge/experience but NONE when it comes to putting together a harmonious freshwater community tank. Seems a bit silly, I know - so I landed...
