I was just wondering if anyone has put a filter on the intake of an external and if so what they used basically to stop fry getting sucked in i have tied a piece of floss around at the moment but its black already and cant seem to find anything made for the purpose thanks

had a look and as far as i can see there is one big basket that sits inside the canister. i think its still better to have a few baskets for different media thanks

Thanks for the reply i did have a 2215 but didnt like having no baskets it was a nuisance when cleaning having to empty all the media out i may just put a filter next to the tank then my options are better

I have just bought a fluval 405 and not really impressed with it especially as its leaking tried every way to put the lid on and seal it but still it leaks which doesnt fill you with confidence. i have a vision 180 so can only fit certain filters in the cabinet so thinking TMC V2 powerbox 400...

i bought a uv light a couple of years ago from a company in germany off ebay eqj trading not sure what make it is but its 11 watt and has cuv111 on the transformer. its never been used and has all the parts the light still works if anyone wants it can either pick it up or cover postage...

ive got one you can have its brand new well never been used mine broke so the dealer sent me a new one and i bought an external before it was delivered so it ended up in the box of stuff never to be used again. had quick look for postage costs and it should only be about £3 so 8 quid and its yours

i only have one fish at the moment so could be the plants i have restocked recently and some have not survived also when cleaning the algae its hard to get it all out of the tank so could cause spikes. think i will keep cleaning every other day and keep up with water changes until the new plants...

at the moment the lights are only on for 7 hrs but it does catch the sun late on for a couple of hrs. the nitrate is high it always used to be zero now its 20 so have been doing loads of water changes to keep it down but not sure why its that high
