Cycling New Tank From Established One

thanks, that cleared that up for me. it will explain why seed material is more effective placed inside the filter, than placed inside tank. Incidently if seed material is placed directly opposite a spray bar, in the tank, it will be ok initially? but by the time they are swirled back into inlet...

Cycling New Tank From Established One

? she has "I put the filter cartridge in the new tank (not in the filter because it wont fit)" so, so long as she has a filter to the new tank, the bacteria will eventually go back into the new filter? is that right?

Just Treated Myself To A Fluval 205 :)

Try a mixture; since u already have the brand ones, get some generic - some of the generic ones are of good quality and comes in all shapes&sizes - even better increase surface area in my opinion. Some of the brand ones are old-style & less surface area for the bacteria. get more of the bio...

Seed Tank Temp = Cycling Tank Temp?

Again, whilst researching, someone said that "the seed tank temp must match the cycling tank temp?" Mine wud be from a 20 degree to a 29 degree?! would that harm the seed bacteria, and make it ineffective in the cycling tank, for the purposes of speeding-up cycling? any thoughts? :/

New Fish Tank- Too Many Fish?

+1 yikes thats one itsy bitsy tank for its occupiers monster growth i'm no proffessional expert but i know you need at least 10 gallon tank per goldfish ( x4? = litres), even then thats for small ones - body inches. A large 200-300L, long & shallow tank wud be perfect. They may seem...

    Is This True?

@ Hollywood1992 & ShinyCard255 the advice wasn't given to me, i just came across it, but i had never heard of such a thing,so i wanted to check with this forum if the advice was sound, since this forum is particularly thorough in the cycle procedure. @ ctsv510 thank you, once again sound logic...

    Is This True?

Hi, whilst researching on cycling info i cam across this statement; "As you are doing a fishless cycle, you have the liberty of plowing into your local fish store and asking for dirty media. If there are sick fish in there - it doesn't matter. The fish pathogens (disease causers) will die off...

    A Question Of Chlorine

eh? my pots & pans are stainless steel, cos i thought the tefal& non-stick/aluminium pans are bad. copper pots&pans are way expensive.

    A Question Of Chlorine

    A Question Of Chlorine

hmmm on reflection.... our current home(we move alot), we don't have a watertank, the hot water runs on a combi-boiler, so the mains water gets heated as and when required, which suggests that it shud be ok, to take hot water from the hot water tap?! guess it wud be different if u had a water...

    A Question Of Chlorine

I was told never to use the hot tap water also. i have furr/scales in my kettle(even after de-scaling it a couple of times-never completely removes it.), and i've always used kettle boiled water, and no matter how i try, can't avoid tiny bits of scale getting into the tank. If i can use the...

Add&wait V Add Daily Fishless Cycle

ADD&WAIT v ADD DAILY 1st fishless cycle eva hi all, i'm embarking on the 2nd method "add daily" - planning on keeping fancy goldfish(messy poopers), to max stock, so according to rdd's thread, the 2nd method is ideal for me. However its the least popular, so not much info on it. my queries...
