    Rescued Guppys Give Birth

Awhile ago my husband and I were at Wal-Mart looking at their fish, mostly shaking our head at their treatment of them, when we spotted two white female guppys in with the small comets. They were marked as Rosy Minnows. Also they were both very pregnant. We couldn't leave them their to give...

30 Long Goldie Tank Journal *updated*

Here are some updates. I put the wood I was soaking in the tank. I think it is looking great. My shrimp love it. I also added in some bamboo (going for a semi Asian theme) for background plants. I believe that pulls things together much better. I finally got a decent picture of Snude being...

    Filter Being A Pain

Not quite sure if this topic goes here My canister (Like this one, only older and not under warranty) is acting up on me. It is a magnetic driven motor. Heres what it does. I break it down, put it back together, prime it, turn it on, runs fine for a minute, then shuts off. It makes a sound...

I think you'll be amused by their reaction to the new sand. My comet has a riot bouncing around the tank sucking up sand and spitting it out all over everyone and everything

Hello All! Not to many starting a coldwater journal so I will put my two cents in :shout: Let me give you a brief history on my tank: It's a 30 gallon long former saltwater refugium. I got it because it had a crack in it. My friends husband wanted to throw it out and I caught it in time. I...

    Sand Bottom Tank?

I recently changed to sand bottom and used play sand. Very cheap $2 something for a bag that covered a 30 long, and two 20 gallons. Like it was said before you have to wash it out very well. Just get a large bucket, fill it, set it under your tub faucet, let it run over the sand until it...

    Sannndddd!

I recently converted to sand, and used play sand. It does fine if you wash it out reaaaaaalllyy well. Its the most inexpensive route I found if you don't mind elbow grease. My goldfish and plants love it and my husbands tropical tank is looking great.

    White Worms?

Hello everyone, I noticed today that there are small white worms with dark heads wiggling around the top of my water line. They dont move like worms, more like caterpilars, or snails. I have 1 apple snail (Petco called it an inca, she/he is yellow, and beautiful) in the tank (30 long). I have...
