Aeration is the only thing that has changed. It has done this before when I added aeration. I can gaurantee that if I stop the air now, by tommorrow the Ph will be back to 7.2 Not the best article - but if you do a search you will find plenty of information of using aeration to increase Ph.

Keep in mind that an FX5 runs at 48Watts. You will probably notice this on your electric bill, as it uses more or less the same power consumption as leaving a single light tube on for 24/7.

The water change isn't necessary, it's just what I would personally. So I can start/re-start with a clean(er) slate. If you don't want to do that, just top the ammonia back up to 5ppm and see if it drops over the next few days.

I'd suggest doing a water change of 50% or so (make sure you de-chlorinate the water). Then bring the ammonia back up to 5ppm again. This is to see of the cycling has stalled. If all is ok then the ammonia should start dropping again.
