    Hey again.... another fishes death

I have had to take a video as they are too fast for pictures. I've noticed 2 do a white poop. I tried to increase the oxygen flow so it's a bit violent right now. I have been putting sponge in the filter to quite it down as it's really loud. Am I okay to leave the filter media in? And the...

    Hey again.... another fishes death

I have word processing difficulties so I hope that I read it right. I only treated once with it and I do my water changes monthly as it says on the filter pack but I changed them to more frequently. https://gyazo.com/da08885964097ec7e7c8eb42a5203407...

    Hey again.... another fishes death

The tank is not new I've had it for about 8 months now and the fish a little over a year, I dont know how old she was when I got her. Ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0 and nitrate is 5ppm. My tank is a 19l with 3 platies left now. And I haven't done anything new. I just followed the advice it gave on...

    Hey again.... another fishes death

So another emergency occurred, I haven't put this post in emergencies because I'm sure other people need help more than me. In the time between my last thread and this one I have treated my main tank with the disease safe and done fortnightly 20% water changes. Now another of my fish has...

    Platy emergency

Hi everyone thanks for helping. Last night I moved her into the other more permanent tank treated with tap safe and safe start. I tested the water and it was good. Straight away she sank to the bottom but then started swimming diagonal. I was up most the night observing her but I eventually fell...

    Platy emergency

The tank temperature at the moment it 25c (they're varitus platys so it should be different from platys I believe) but it could have risen since England has had a heatwave recently. I feed them once a day and give them about as much they'll eat within a minute. I have been away on holiday so...

    Platy emergency

Thanks for the reply, is this definitely an infection? Can it be caused by old age or the injury? Shes about 2 years now + the time she was at the fish shop. The other fish are fine and it doesn't look like they are infected. I'm going to set up another thank to keep the injured fish in but I...

    Platy emergency

She is surving just looks a bit lonely, how long would you suggest leaving her separated? And yes the tank is small because it's my sisters tank for one snail. I wasnt really prepared for having an emergency like this.

    Platy emergency

Long time no see! My fish tank has been doing beautify and I have needed no help until now. So one of my fish had her tail stuck around the filter tube (picture below) about 2 weeks ago so I freed her and she was fine afterwards. She then has got it stuck again sunday night (I have now built a...

    Fry Development

I understand, but if you change your mind you don’t need a separate tank https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B073P47WBL/?tag=< that’s the breeder tank I had it just helps separate them, they’re in the same water so no need for an extra filter. I may have worded it wrong by saying tank but I didn’t know...

    Fry Development

You can usually tell the gender when it’s around 2 months by looking at the bottom fin (fan for female, pointy for male) my fry has only just got its base colours at 6 months old and is starting to get some markings. It’s also best to get a breeder tank for it till it’s big enough not to be...

    Am I feeding enough?

Adding on to that fish will constantly want food and eat whatever’s available even if they are not hungry, my fish are beggars but I have to ignore how cute they are and not give them any more food. So them seeing me (the person who gives them food) they’ll go crazy to be fed again.

    Am I feeding enough?

I always feed twice a day 8am and 6pm I only give a bit at a time and as much as they eat in 2 minutes. If it starts falling to the floor I stop.

    Cheeky Charlie Cat

I would like to introduce you to my cat Charlie. I got him from a rescue centre 3 years ago when he was 4 months old, he was there because his old family didn’t want him anymore. He’s such a calm cat but has his crazy killer moments like most cats, he does try to get my fish too but the tanks...

    Worms in tank

You should never put anything that has been used in your fish tank in my opinion, they could carry diseases. These look to be non-parasitic worms as they are fairly visible, but you should remove them just in case. They’re like snails so they’ll feed of fish food and are nocturnal but they’ll...

    Echinodorus bleherae in platy tank

i just went out and bought a live plant to add to my fish tank. The fish seem to like it but how should I care for it? I removed the brown leaves and planted it straight away, It looks great and matches the fake plants. The live plant is at the back and two silk ones in front, I’ve left in in...

Help! I think my guppies dying

My platy had a curved back and it died earlier this week, mine was a runt meaning when it was born it basically had problems developing. I’m just saying that this is common and it may have been bullied by others, mine wasn’t eating as the others would chase it away and I found it motionless at...

    Introduction to my fishies

Thanks! I did try a live plant but it died before I could even put it in the tank, I’m getting a new one today. I’ll also add more water today, it’s just that the overhead waterfall feature doesn’t work as good with a lot of water it. Thank you!!

    Introduction to my fishies

Hello, I have a 5 gallon (19 litre) tank with 5 variatus platys in. (I know some people will say “that’s too small get a bigger tank” but I believe they are happy and have plenty of room to swim (I will provide pictures)) Anyway, all of my fish are females. Two are fully grown and are called...
