Fish Crazy
Alright well since I had the empty tank....and since....well since my first spawn was a miss....I decided to try again...with a different pair....Isis and Dawna They are Black/Yellow Halfmoon Plakats. Isis is absolutely beautiful...his anal fin is the longest Ive seen on any of my fish...hes got a great personality to...mom is just a tiger as well...like to attack her food to shreds...then eat it haha...so here are pictures of them...
Here is Mommy...hehe shes got more black around her tail edges now though...
And here is daddy! Such a sweetie...in this picture his body is brown but hes really pitch black...
Alright so now for the dirty details haha (This infos a little late...I had to throw a birthday party for my boyfriend....which took time haha so...sorry) They were set up on 9/26 Thats when I put the tank together...and had it cycled and then put the male in...almost had a bubble nest in the next hour haha..he was ready! I put the female in a breeding trap and his nesting skills took off and up a level and he had a beautiful nest by the end of the night....so I plopped (nicely) Dawna in the tank and I watch for a couple hours but nothing but he wasnt hurting her so I went to bed...and when I woke up in the morning...I watched for a good 2 mins....and it was like BAM...all of a sudden they started spawning! It was probably one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen...So I curled up in a blanket....and sat beside the tank watching...(and took a few pictures!) It took all of 4 hours before they were complete....(WOW!~ ) and when I was positive the girl was no longer welcome I scooped her out and put her in her nice clean tank She was happy to eat some bloodworms...she came out with minimal damage....So dad did wonderful....kept the nest nice and clean and eggs organized...he often would lurk in the bushes....haha waiting to see if bad guys were there....(soo cute ) Here are some pictures of the embrace...
So then...on 9/29 the babies hatched...so cute and millions of them...and daddy was the best thing ive seen since sliced bread....just adorable...chasing babies all around but didnt seem overly stressed by it really...so he zipped around...I ended up keeping him in there till 10/1....when most the little guys were free swimming...and he did baby collections every hour....(He would actually go around the tank collecting the babies...then go back to the nest...haha and hed spit this black cloud of babies back in...just for them to go off and adventure again!) So I decided I would remove him...He didnt seem to happy...so I put him next to dawna for a hour and he changed his mind about them haha So now The fry are about 5 days old and doing really well So Ill keep everyone updated
