Hello everyone,
I had a spare tank, which is extremely dangerous. Must fill it . Anyway, I was at my favorite LFS... I know, I know, I was just there Friday and came back with Gunther, but I really did run out of something. I needed Iron fertilizer and actually wanted another Cryptoncryne Wendtii, and they have nice ones. Well while sales assistant was talking to me about my planted tank, I was looking at the female bettas. I saw a lot of pretty females, with some bright colors. But one of them didn't seem quite right. It had bars and was dullish, but I caught out of the corner of my eye, an extended gill flape. Sure enough, the "female" was flaring! The associate saw it as well, and remarked that sometimes when they get the females, some short-tailed males get mixed in. It drives him nuts because he's got to pick the males out of the tank, and put them in the male betta area (all are separated), but it takes time, and that LFS is pretty busy. The now very male betta continued to flare, and I said "I'll take him!"
So I now have Hunding, who is all male and all attitude. I'm sure he's plakat, but I wonder if he doesn't have some wild stuff in him. He's pretty cool to look at. Of course, I have a pic. By the way, I actually did get the fertilizer and two Crypts, so I stayed with my list. In addition, he gave me the female price of $1.89, so Hunding goes down as my cheapest fish setup in all my history of fish keeping. Sorry for the long narrative.
Also, for fun, I was bored and Loge decided that he wanted to pose, so I'll throw in a picture of him for fun!
