with most fungus on fish giving them a salt bath helps as long as the fish is a fish with scales for example its not a cory catfish as they are intolerant to salt. using medication will also help. what were the lfs using to treat it? look out for the wound getting bigger. have you got good water quality i.e ammonia, nitrite and nitrates are at proper levels.

Did the fungus look white and fluiffy before it turned into an ulcer or sore.

We need to no your tank size, how many fish, which type, water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, it started off as columnaris and now gone to an open sore.

at the moment he is in a 5G with a platie

ammonia - 0
Nitites - 0

did a 50% water change 2day added half a tablespoon of salt, some stress coat and melafix...anything else you want to know?

I only got him sunday, took him off someone else to see if i could heal him

With that sore i would do some daily salt baths on the fish, and also get an anti internal bacteria med, good luck, if you haven't a med i would get on straight away with the salt baths.

Sorry forgot and do some water changes aswel, but add the med back to the water removed..

why does an sore need anti inetrnal bacteria med?

ahh yes i just read the packt.....ulcers! it treats ulcers!

so i should add it everyday....i have interpet anti internal bacteria....its says add one does then one on day four but i guess if im removing it everyday then i should add half a does? correct?

the redness is starting to disappear but....the wound is more lumpy now from front on you can see it sticking out a bit more is this good or bad...he's been very lievly and eating and looks pretty healthy except for that!
