very pretty alia!
are all those plants real???? they're beautiful!
my loaches turn every plant I put in the tank into swiss cheese

Lovely Pictures! :) Beautiful Fish! How do you find your Krib? My Lfs has some and i'm tempted to add them with my Rams. Or is that a bad idea? To busy looking after my 57 Loaches and i'm wanting more other species.

Graeme.

:*) :*) Thanks, guys, for all the kind remarks! Now, for answers:

None of the plants are real! :hyper: When I started my tank I had a few real plants and they all died -- but the snails went forth and multiplied like -- snails!!! There is something you can use to dip the plants in to get the snails off before putting them in your tank, but I have never found it at the fish store. Then I read that plants could be challenging and I thought I'd try to get the fish thing down first and add plants later. Also, it is not as easy to find healthy plants as one would hope. Right now I'm looking for Mangrove for a crab tank and having no luck.

Well, Graeme, I love your loaches, they are just adorable. I didn't realize you had rams, too. I saw a ram at the lfs once, and it was gorgeous. then I came home and read about it and it sounded too difficult for my community tank. Do you find them difficult?

About Speedy, which is what my son named my krib, I like him enough that I went out and found a 29 gallon tank for him (not set up yet) and I plan to get him a ladyfriend if I can ever find one (lfs had a tank full of males -- I bought the biggest, prettiest one). I'd also like to get a pair of another variety of kribs that I've seen for sale on the web (like these) and keep them in the same tank.

i'm tempted to add them with my Rams
It might just work -- see link below:
Krib/Ram thread

I'm not sure at this point what else I will have in my krib tank. They say "dither fish" are a good idea when breeding kribs. Right now he is with the two cherry barbs. He hasn't harmed them, but he does chase them away from everything on the bottom, including food, which is why I moved the cory cats out of "his" tank. :D

I am really captivated by the beauty and agility of this fish. The photo doesn't do him justice at all. I can't wait to see him with a mate, raising some fry. I've read such endearing stories about kribs herding fry around the tank on various forums -- I really just have to have a go at breeding them. But even if they don't breed they will be worth having.

Sorry, I got carried away!

Thanks Alia. I've just started keeping Rams. I gotta start looking at other fish aswell.

Such beautiful photography, Graeme. Is that the female on top? She has the "pretty abdomen" just like the female krib. They are such lovely fish. I might try them sometime if I see a nice pair at the lfs.
