Thanks tanked....I too am in search of black angels....
wish dolphin were closer :(
I do have one that is about breeding size..., I am planning on putting it in with a female golden pearlscale....and a marble superveil, to see if I can get it to pair up.

:D

Hi Mama

If the black is a true black, and it pairs up with the golden pearlscale, then all the young will be black. Not true blacks, but good enough to pass off as true blacks.

Good luck with the new eggs.

Keep up the good work.

Hi Mama

Pearl scale is a double recessive gene. Put simply, for a fish to show pearl scale it needs to have two of the genes. One has to be supplied by both parents. There is a possibility that the black fish has one of these genes, but the likelihood is that it does not.

All of the young from a spawning from the pearl scale will have the gene, and thus if paired brother to sister, 25% of their young will be pearl scale. Of these pearly young 25% will be gold and 75% will be black, (if the other fish was the black fish). As True blacks are very weak, most will die, and the resulting young will be 33% gold pearly and 66% Black pearly. The other 75% of the batch will be standard scaled.

Hope this makes sense to you.
