Standpipe and weir. I know the standpipe is a bit big, but if I ever turn salty all I have to change is the water and the fish now

The second sump tank, the pump and the return plumbing. This went through some major changes. Almost every white corner seal on here burst so I had a lot of water on the floor. Eventually I got it right but couldn't get the pipe to seal between the tank and the pump so moved it into the tank.

p.s. the pump was an absolute bargain, they didn't have the Eheim 1260 in, so I got the 1262 for the same price. That's 50% extra pumping power for free   :fun: :D

First (of three) test fills -_-

In this pic you can see how the system works, the water flows down into the sump tank on the right through three grades of sponge and then filter floss, after this it goes past the bubble trap (and heater) to the biological media (currently housing lava rock, fluval biomax, sponges, gravel and plastic pond stuff... :S )

After that it hits the second tank which I'm basically throwing loads of plants in and some CO2 to help remove nitrates. I also threw in some snails and planned to put some shrimp in there, until my Kuhlies escaped the main tank and found their way there through all the filters (I "rescued" them from the sponges once before  )

Then it hits the pump and goes out one of the two outlets in the tank.

After a week of re-plumbing I finally got to put the sand in, Nina (my better three quarters) did the aquascaping and together we got the fish in here from our 35gallon (uk) tank upstairs. We moved them before I wanted to but the Pictus had become too scared to go near the Rainbow Shark and so 4 were trying to fit in an area about 12"X24". Ergo, lots of fighting. A shame our first silver shark jumped out between the tank and the wall, I did not enjoy lifting the 35 gallon before it was empty to get to him :sly:

And finally a nice (I think) overall shot of the setup. This weekend sees me finish the doors to prepare for the new kittens' arrival.

Hope you guys like it. The end result is worth it, though if I knew the trouble it'd be, I don't know if I'd have gone for sumps...
