I just bought a blue/red betta but i noticed that his fins arent like the other bettes.

it looks kinds like webbing like the web feet of a duck...

is this an abnormality?

looks kinda kool actually kinda reminds me of a Rhasta betta :D

i also dont have a heater the guy at the Lfs said i dont need 1 but my room is kinda cold at night i was wondering what are the tempuatures that are needed to keep a happy betta?

thx

Check the pinned topic on tail types - does he look like a crowntail? :)

Most people say bettas are happiest at the mid-70'sF to low 80's range.

Congrats on your new fish!

Sounds like it has great branching, or not much branching, but a lot of webbing. Can you get a pic?

uhh i got a pic i hope it helps ...i tthink its a crown tail

Is that a picture of your fish??
It's a very nice Crown tail.

he's so pretty!!! all the LFS i've ever been too don't carry any special bettas, or i'm sure i'd have some.

thx for the compliments guys... Well i think he is a crowntail... but i just picked him out of like 50 bettas in the store he was the only 1 with these kind of fins...

he is in a hexagon tank that i think is 1 or 2 gallons..

i currently dont have a filter or a heater, the guy at the lfs said i didnt need one.

just to use bottled water... so thats what i got so far hes doing good without a heater but i think the water is kinda cold...

i am also interested in buying a 10 gallon and dividing it up... ive seen some people do this and it looks really good, with like 3 bettas in it

Wow! Beautiful crowntail... Splitting up 10 gallons into three or even four parts is a good idea but make sure the bettas can't get into each other's sections or you'll have dead fishies...It can also get quite stressful if they are constantly flaring at one another... consider getting a female and putting her in between the males or rotating so that they are sometimes next to a male and sometimes next to a female. Please do get a small heater - a filter isn't necessary if you do regular partial water changes with de-chlorinated water but bettas do need heat.

That is a breeding quality betta !!!! Look on aquabid and you will see some JUSTlike yours but in a varaiation of colours going for 25$+ ..... If you have a local wal-mart you can get a heater for up to a 5 gallon for 5 or six dollars .... 78 degrees is a nice temp
