Question #1: It looks like one of the hornwart(?) bushies (the one on the left) are growing at a somewhat rapid pace. Is this normal? Also, is the color normal? They are not dark green as before but have gotten a bit lighter in shade.

Also, I thought I had one snail, I now have two. Should I worry? And can anyone tell me what kinf of snail it is judging by the picture? It's too itty bitty for details, but the best way I could describe it is that the shell has a golden reflection and tiny pale connected circles as a pattern on it. The body is somewhat icky and grey.

Horworth is a very fast grower. Yours looks great.

The new growth on mine is also lighter in color. You can cut it and re-plant it's clippings. Once you start trimming it, it will grow in even faster.

Sorry, don't know much about snails, other than my skunk loaches love 'em.

Thanx for the compliment and info! How do you replant the clippings if they don't have roots?

Do you know what kind of snail? From the looks it appears to be a common pond snail and if so then I say yes. They seem to have a habit of reproducing no matter what and could care less whether their is food or not.

If it is another type of snail such as apple snails, ramshorn, etc... then I wouldn't worry because they only tend to reproduce if their is food. If it is one of the types that only reproduces when their is food they can be a great warning system that something isn't quite right, but with only 2 everything would be right and I wouldn't worry. :)

That is a great looking tank, btw. :) Although your beta doesn't seem to happy about the hornwort taking over his swimming spot. :p

the first picture is a great looking tank! the second one could use a trimming, though

i also have a planted 2.5g tank and wanted to add more plants in it, but im not sure what to get. what other plants do you have in yours?

I also have hairgrass and an amazon sword. The background is an aquatic plant wallpaper.

Oh yeah, I put the otos back so Buttons don't get lonely. :)

Nice tank .

I got a piece of that horn wart accidentally with a fish I bought a few years back , anyway the piece was like 3" long , I left it floating in my tank and about 6 months later it had split into like three main pieces about 5' long each OH  [ in my 70 gal ] .

I brought in for store credit  no lie . [ all of it ]

Do you have other tanks ? , maybe fish that will eat it ?

Or a friend to give some to ?

bunch it up and bring some back for credit from time to time  , If the shop will tank it that is .

or all of the above

Did the snails come with the plants , if so I have a feeling you'll be seeing more , and more , and more .   you might not be laughing though .

Last month I got some plants [ ordered over the inter net ] , anyway I put the plants in a quarantine tank , after rinsing them and bathing them in salt on and off in salt a few times added them to the main tank .

Now I seem to have a never ending supply of snails that look very much like yours , like I said , you'll probably see more .

5 feet??!?!?
yup  precisely why I got rid of it .

I'm not much for pruning . Like I said I left it floating , really had no idea how big it had gotten until I finally did go to thin it out . whorls and whorls , like spaghetti

I guess I'll dump the clippings in the 5g tank and then use the growth when I set up the 20g long.
