1 month old

And on their way out of the nursery tank and into a grow out sometime this week.

Here's a cutie pie on his way down for worms (only one of two clear shots I could get  )

Wow, amazing. How many in this spawn? How big a growout are you moving them to?

It's hard to say how many. I only lost the two in the beginning and at one point it looked like over a hundred. Now sometimes it looks like 75ish. I'll count them as I transfer them. I suppose they'll go in that empty four footer. I have to scrub it out later today after I pick up Tues and take her bike riding

I'm moving my 2 spawns into the 45 growout soon too (maybe today if I get around to it). I just need to get the last 10 females from my red spawn out and give it a nice big water change. Water changes are going to be horribly hard in that tank once the wee ones are in it as I can't use my big water vacuumer, it would suck up all the babies with it, haha. I'll have to use my leeetle vacuum and just let it drain and drain and drain for ages before it takes enough out, haha

I wasn't going to combine the spawns since the reds are smaller than the blues, but decided to let the strong survive, I know alot of the reds will get eaten, but oh well, I have too many fry between these 2 spawns to have all survive anyway, Lol. Plus I have other red spawns I want to try soon (that I think will produce even better fry and definetly bigger and faster growers). But there is that big piece of silk plant I got in there, so plenty of hiding spots for the littler, non aggressive babies to hide from the bigger guys that want to eat them.

The stomach on that little guy kelly is crazy, LOL. They really like those Grindals!!

Yeah, they're little roly polies that's for sure.

Your tank with the reds and the blues is going to be amazing to watch :look: I bet they're going to look fantastic together!! :hyper: And it's strange how they tend to pick on bettas their own size,so maybe the little ones will be ok.

I use a big gravel vac on the 55 grow out. I have to or it would take too long and I wouldn't do such large wc's. Just get some of that poly-fil in the craft department and stuff the vacuum with it enough to cover the hole. You'll have to change it after you suck up all the waste. Just put a fresh wad towards the bottom of the vac (so the fry only get sucked up about an inch into it and can pull themselves out)and let it drain out a window or something

Definitely a month old now. I almost thought they were going to gather for me this morning, but they didn't. Probably tomorrow. Moved everybody into a grow out via the ole dump the nursery tank method after a night of rearranging jars to make space for the grow out (it's amazing how quickly an empty shelf fills in there). They look like they've grown in the past few hours

One of the fry. I see what appears to be a rosey red coming in on the tail, and on the anal of others...includng the light fry. I'm not sure what I think just yet. I also notice ct branching today, which is a relief.

umm...holy crap thats a big tank..nice pics wuv, they've grown so fast on ya, i cant keep up :D what do u feed them and how much? i need tips! lol

The usual, bbs and microworms as often as they like. They pretty much have food 'round the clock. My grindals are failing on me lately so I've been in a state of emergency trying to force frozen on them the last two days. They took both brine and bloodworms but they weren't too receptive. I've also been trying to push cyclopeeze on them.

More orange showing up. I'm almost wondering if they're going to look like the black/orange that I got yesterday. -_- They're almost identical in pattern and color (burnt orange) Some of them are solid orange-ish. It seems that orange isn't as recessive a color as it used to be.

With more people breeding for orange, it probably has increased the number of heterozygous fish, resulting in more random orange occurances.

They look so cute in their big old tank.

iv seen a few oranges come from mg spawns on another site, they are very pretty, i wonder if u were o breed the 2 burnt oranges would u get mg's?...
i know when i don my spawn ill b able to feed them 3 times a day, once i get them on bettas bites eventually thogh i can have them opn food constantly with an auto feeder

Almost 6 weeks old
GD~ I'm not sure what you'd get but I think I'll try it and see soon enough :)

I'm seeing definite double rayed branching which is again a relief. I know I said that already but they kept me holding my breath this week. I was glad to see that I will definitely get CT's out of this spawn.
