Unbelievably I have finally got fish in my impossible dream tank! Now home to 6 Chindingo Socolofi, bit too young to sex bit suspecting 3 male 3 female.

84 years is an exaggeration but sure you’ll get the meme it has been 15 months since I bought the tank though haha!

That’s an awesome picture . The rock work and the color and just the way the fish are positioned . The fish are cool too . Mayhaps you would tell a little about them .
Thanks this pic doesn’t do them justice much more blue than showing here.

They are a Mbuna Cichlid from Lake Malawi, so they live in the rocks. These are about 2 inches at the moment and should grow to about 4. Ideally I want one male and 3-4 females so let’s see how they mature.

I got these today from Wharf Aquatics which is a great store in the UK. We recently had a baby so getting to an lfs has been tricky! But very happy to finally have fish in this tank I’ve nearly dosed a 500ml bottle of ammonia to get this ready it’s been cycled for ages but this has been to keep it alive.

those look like cichlids.
It just so happens that for December Fish of the Month we will be featuring cichlids. (hint...hint)
Yep they are Mbuna from Lake Malawi - will keep an eye out for the comp!

Its been really tough to get enough space to get there as I've had to do the big water change, needed to fix the jump guard (still not perfect but will do) and theres always just been something to stop me having the time to do the drive and get the fish. I'm really happy with these but... there is an LFS near me that has been getting better and better recently and they get some nice Mbuna in (I think from one of the really good breeders near me - Tony's African Cichlids) and I'm tempted to see what they can get for me as it would mean I can get more fish in sooner than later.

Managed to get this picture but its really hard to capture them - they look really really blue in the tank but then you see them on the screen and it doesn't look the same.

They are doing really well! Interestingly I kept the heater off for quite a while on this tank and only had it on for maybe the last month (really thought I was going to get fish sooner than this) and the roots have reached the substrate now, I've got flowers coming through as well. I'll get a full tank shot tonight when the lights are on.

Trying to decide what other fish I want in here now though...

Think yellow and blue go really well together so something like Msobo Magunga would look cool.

You still thinking 4 groups with the petricola?

Pics from tonight as promised :) really hate the heater I have in here... I want to get 2 smaller ones so I can put it either end and have them vertical in the corners maybe in a few months.

how about horizontal on the back in the center???
