I have this very old swordtail maybe 3-4 years, and she has a thing on her eye and is very scared… what is it? Is she just getting old?

the white part is the thing I amtalking about

Maybe I'm just plain blind or something... Or too inexperienced to see anything but it looks fine?
Maybe some better photos of what you're talking about?

i'll try to get some better photos, she keeps on hiding away

Here is a high quality video. It is actually on the gills now...
I think the fish is irritated by something so the white stuff is mucous...

It's hard to see, but her overall look is of an elderly fish losing weight. I hate seeing that, but you only see it with a fish that has been well cared for for a long life.

noooo
what is the thing out of her gills though? will a salt treatment help?
i've definitely had her for a LONG time

I can't see anything specific on the eye or gill. The gill is flared out, but she has lost weight.

I see. I did not do anything extra, and today she passed away :(

well at least her genes live on... she had at least 20 swordtail babies :)

I'm sorry - I've had a few that lived long, and you get attached. The signs of old age can drop like a curtain on them.
