This morning I observed brown streaks on the interior glass of a 125 G tank that has an orange male and a

green female. They have engaged in mating behaviors for weeks & I assumed they laid eggs behind a big rock. Within 2 hours white round eggs were visible. The parents are transfixed and can‘t take their eyes off them. I‘m reading up, and this one guy insists all white eggs are infertile and only yellowish ones will grow. Anyone know if that’s correct? I’m baffled that infertile eggs grow.

They are certainly eggs. I would suggest the clear ones are fertilized and the white ones are infertile. Assuming the colors of eggs are similar to Angels.

Yeah, and appears the devoted parents are eating them all off the glass! Kinda sad. I would have liked a few babies.

After a few times they will learn to care for them. New cichlid parents often eat the eggs and then the babies for a few times. Leave them be and they will learn.

Sorry, too late. I signed them up for a parenting class at a local social services agency.
