Guppy has been pregnant for 3 months and no fry. She’s been swimming in place. She has been rough and is going on 3 years old if that means anything.

Guppy been pregnant for 3 months. No fry. She’s 3 years old if that matters. What do you guys think Is wrong? Is it something I’m doing wrong?

Is she in a tank with other fish? Is there a safe place for her fry to be born? My bearing tank has lots of java moss for babies to hide in and I feed baby brine shrimp (to mom) when I think she is close, supposedly providing the "right environment and food" for babies helps encourage them to give birth. If that isn't the issue, idk, maybe she is bound up and can't deliver or there is some other problem. 3yrs is really old for a guppy to be alive let alone having babies, so I wonder if that is part of the issue.

I have some duckweed and a stump decoration. Also have a mossball. But males still bother her. That may be the case. I also was thinking she may be to old to have babies. But not sure

you might try to put her in a netbreeder with something for the young to hide in.

Thanks for the information! Don’t think I have a net breeder though. Would a 1 gallon jar work to?

I use a net breeder with a little frame, allows the aquarium to continue to filter her water and provide air flow. You might try a large fishnet, maybe drop something in it to hold a space for her to swim in, and just hang it in her tank with her in it. She has to be able to swim to breathe. Wow, net breeders have gone up quite a bit, but you can run a search and maybe figure out how to rig one.

Most guppy females of three years old won't reproduce anymore. But you'll never know... But if she's really shaped like this for three months, there might be something else going on instead of being pregnant. Worms could be one of them...
