New 37g tank stocking and cycling questions!

Got a 37g from petsmart today and was going to ask if I could do just move everything from my 2, 10 gallon tanks to the new tank including the filter media, water, gravel, plants, wood, etc.

If I could transfer everything and add the fish instantly, could I put the old gravel under the new gravel that I want to add. Would it do anything harmful?
-I currently have gravel for one tank and sand for the other.

Stocking:
I have a picture linked below of how the tank looks. The tank is going to hold my current
•9 neon tetras
•5 guppies
The tempature is around 78 and I’m planning to create a very naturalistic environment with many live plants and such. Also planning to add some tannins.

What other small fish could I possibly have that are easy to take care of and have vibrant colors?
How many of each could I have?

When I moved from a 55 gallon to a 125 gallon I just filled it up used the filter from the 55 gallon and waited 24 hours then I moved the fish in a did not have any issues at all. With the fish you have I would have to say platys they come in all types of colors. I had those at first. They kept on having babies so eventually I moved on to cichlids. I like to use the aquarium calculator to figure out how many fish you can put in a aquarium on aqadvisor

Mixing different substrate materials is not always visibly pleasing, it can make the area seem smaller and in some cases (depending upon the gravel) unnatural. Some fish need sand over gravel, so keep that in mind; generally substrate fish need the sand.

As for fish, what are the water parameters, meaning GH and pH primarily? Do you intend any live plants?

I set up my tank this morning and I decided to just cycle the 37-gallon tank normally without using the old substrate.
The substrate in the new tank is sand and there are live plants in the tank.

My water parameters are:
Ph: 7.6-7.8
I don’t have gh

The tempature is now going to be at 75 and as I said before I’m going to have
9 tetras and 5 guppies in it

I’m thinking of adding some Corydoras around 4 of them.

Along with that I was thinking 6 Celebes rainbow fish or 6 peacock gungeons (maybe even both if possible)

But I feel like all three would overcrowd it but which ones would work the best in your opinion with the fish tank design, size, and parameters.

Once the plants show clear signs of growing, they will cycle for you. So we can turn to fish.

Corydoras need a group, they live in groups of hundreds and they are social fish. I would not have fewer than 10-12 in this tank, and more likely 15-17. This is without question in the best interests of the fish.

Neon tetra at 9 is minimal, you might want a couple more. Same issue, a shoaling fish.

Before going any further with fish, we need to pin down the GH. For fish, this is the most critical parameter (aside perhaps from temperature). Neons are soft water, guppies moderately hard, cories depending upon species should be OK but I am assuming the GH is not overly high which would change this. Check the website of your water authority, the GH (general hardness or total hardness) may be posted.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the gh of the water on the website. When I have the chance within the next couple of days, I’ll go to pet store and ask them to test the gh of the water.

Just be certain they give you the number, not some vague meaningless term, and the unit of measurement. Example, 10 dH (degrees hardness) is very different from 10 ppm (parts per million, also same as mg/l). The first is moderately hard, the second is very, very soft.

with the plants add some root tabs after a few weeks it will boost growth and give nutrients.
For fish I would get some more neons around 6 more. For other fish you could do cherry barbs, clown Killifish, gold laser corydoras, chilli rasbours, galaxy rasbours, most rasbours, scarlet badis, apostgrama, rams, honey gouramis, lemon Tetra, cherry shrimp, angel fish and or electric blue Accra.

I would imagine peacock gungeon would work, not sure about threadfin rainbows. Scarlet badis need live food so if you have guppy fry they would eat it, chilli rasbours are quite small, cherry shrimp might get eaten by other fish but most I've listed should not touch them, angel fish just keep one and it might work thou you may have to re-home it when it is at full size.

For alage cherry shrimp would work but I would recommend dwarf neon gobies (stiphodon atropurpureus) a bit rare and a little pricey. They have lovey colours. Keep at least 3. Best fish to eat black beard alage in my opinion.

There is one issue with this gouramis are social creatures. I would recommend getting 3. Just be careful of Dwarf Gourami Iridovirus (DGIR) it's a genetic illness. If you don't won't to risk it a honey or pearl will work or you could do something else. with the cherry shrimp the blue dwarf gourami would likely eat them. An alternative is a school of 15 Pygmys Cory less colorful but they have a lovey school. I highly doubt it will be overcrowded you may be able to get another fish.

If you don't do the shrimp I would imagine you would have an algae problem after a few months I would say either the dwarf neon gobies if you want colour or 4-5 Ottos if you want it gone quickly.

Probably will add 3 honey gouramis and most likely add around 12 cherry barbs in the near future.
-maybe some blue shrimp or that shrimp you recommended too

But I have put my tetras and guppies in my new tank from their old one and here's the look!

Yes all of that should work. Just make sure you get 2 or 3 female honey gouramis. With the shrimp it should be cheaper going to a local breeder instead of a LFS and add the shrimp a few months before the honey gouramis just incase they try to eat them which is unlikely.

I got the fish! But they aren’t what I planned to get

I got a
-baby angelfish
-4 peppermint tetras
-3 blue shrimp (lucky me one is pregnant)
-2 pure black mollies (will get 3 more)
