Update 1 week on.
Planted the java fern trident higher up on wood(yet to trim back) moved around Anubias & Bucephalandra and left a little cave for my armoured shrimp at front left. Also added some floating plants and moss still to be stuck to wood.
need to allow rotala and ferns to grow to see if I am happy with setup.

Lokks great i have question how often did you do water changes in first week?
Also any plant melting or they all took it well?

I change 50% every week. I have done for years. it’s not a new tank it has been going for a few years. So was a re-scape with lower maintenance plant.
Not really the small crypts at the front have been ok so far.
had a disaster last night while trying to re glue a Java fern to a stone and knocked over rocks and the wood while I was pulling the Java fern out the tank. So now the right side is a right mess. Could not bring myself to fix it

Ok tnx so i should remove melted parts, thats what i was wondering i have 5kg of sera floredepot as base layer it has tabs in it and all nutrients come with the soils at least thats what it says on packaging. On my way to water change now and removing melting parts tnx again mate.
That’s what I did with mine and it worked for me. I am not plant expert I just hit and hope haha. Nothing worse when you put plants in and it looks great then the melt and look terrible.
just had a thought I think you can plant Vallisneria too deep. Try a Google or wait for confirmation on that. Just in case that’s an issue

plants doing well & added tropica trident below the wood hopefully over time it will have a bushy look with the standard java behind it. I planted crypt crispatula at rear right and in front of it crypt wendtii brown & sorted out the Anubias at the front along with cave made for Apistogramma at left side. Armoured shrimp was not a fan of it.
Will take a while to get plants how I want them but just thought I’d share an update.

Another update to a thread, the planted tank attempt is going well and the only thing that is growing rapidly is the rotala. The crypt crispatula and vallis nana is finally starting to grow tall at the back right and Wont be long until it fills the gap and when I eventually put in an external filter the Rotala will take up the back left and get rid of the ugly internal Filter.
Narrow/standard/trident Java fern are slooooooowly filling up the mid as well as the crypt wendtii. The Anubias and Bucephalandra are staying healthy too and also slowing growing.
only using tropica one a week with my 50% w/c and the flourish root tabs. Nice and easy.

Wow! That looks incredible, such a great tank and scape. Looks so natural, must be amazing to have a slice of nature in your house like that.
I love the photo too, the more you look at it the more you see! Really like your Alibida Crypts at the front, really slow growing but well worth the wait!

Thank you very much wills. I must admit I do love those small crypts, have a few parva too. All my plants are slow growing apart from the orange juice rotala.
The tank sits in the living room and I never get bored watching it !
