My planted freshwater journal/update thread

Hm, not sure. I never really paid attention to the time table. Several months, I'd guess. But it does happen eventually. :)
Ok! Come to think of it, my cousin... (She's not really a blood related family memeber but we consider her family) she used to have a 75 gallon and 2 55s... Now she's had to downsize to a 55g and a 10g. But she said that it'll take 5-7 months for java ferns to really fill out...

All my plants have arrived and have been added!!! I found one baby snail but said my goodbyes and squished him.

Got some more spider wood and put a rock on it to sink it! Also, my snails are pooping lol... So I think thats good?

That's starting to look rather nice! I don't know if I'd call snails pooping "good," but it's normal and healthy, I suppose.

Yah, agreed. The reason I said that was because that means obviously they have food source. They havent gone onto the wood (as far as I know) so that means there must be a super light layer of algae and biofilm.

So, two new updates!

#1) I have my quarantine tank being leak tested in the garage!

#2) My java fern has a few new leaves growing out!

I got the qt tank setup and ready to cycle... The sponge filter was used in my 20H while cycling so it should have some healthy bb on there!

Changed up the front a bit so there was more room for the gudgeons on the substrate...

why are you making a quarantine tank if there are no fish in the main tank

Its so I can introduce the fish to the main tank without causing disease

So, just a few updates a day before vaca... 1st is just a pic of my whole tank so you don't just get snipet pics and can see the whole thing... 2nd my snails (at least 2) have gotten pretty huge imo... 3rd algae has been growing on the glass at a nice rate. I will clean it when I get back... 4th, well... Look for yourself... There is a ton of crud on the sponge... And finally 5th... I saw the first of the snail eggs lined up on the glass...
